Solo gaming
Is the game worth to play as solo player? I mean, I want to play it for lore, not for the progress or collecting. For example, there is SW THE OLD REPUBLIC, you can play it like solo-rpg with intressting quests and story. Is LOTRO good in this way as well?

Sorry for my bad English - I use a translator.

Short answer:
Yes! You can experience the whole story alone.

There are some raids and quests that can be completed optionally, but you need a group for that.

But you don't need a group just to experience the story, explore Middle-earth and simply enjoy the wonderful atmosphere and of course level up your character.

Most of group-sized content has been rebalanced to be soloable.
You can now adjust difficulty to enjoy challenge while you are in a group (even in open world)

So... yes, you can enjoy this game as a solo game. I mainly played solo over years, and the game offered a lot to me.

It helped me discovering a world, fighting together with iconic characters I discovered with the movies, it taught me the movies were not "that good" adaptation, and story-wise, it offers some fresh continuation of the story, with a decent vision of the world.

Lotro is not like other theme park. You won't go from region to region with no link beetween them. Your travel will be assisted by a loooonnnnggg story quest, and if you reach Gondor or even Mordor (or beyond...) it will only be after hundreds hours of gameplay.

So... Yes. It's worth playing solo. Exploring solo. Discovering solo.

The only cons... is that like many other MMO, the zones from retail haven't not all been rework and some are not... decent. (Angmar, I am looking at you.). Sometimes, it won't be fun. But day will be brighter.

Its not even worth to play this game and the reason why is because of this

Mordor opens at Noon Eastern (-4 GMT) on Thursday, August 1st!
Angmar opens at 6:00 PM Eastern (-4 GMT) on Thursday, August 1st!

Angmar and Mordor are new Legendary Worlds offering a special Veil of the Nine challenge. These two worlds are also our first 64-bit servers, and Mordor is our first in Europe.

Helps with the lag people experience.....

What happens if I am no longer VIP but want to access Angmar and Mordor?

VIP membership is a requirement for access.
Will the 64-bit servers come to the rest of the game worlds?

what!! Id defenitely wait.....

Yes, we intend to update all game worlds to be 64-bit servers in the future.

ok......when olives grow....

Plus you cant transfer your character from 32bit server to 64bit server so all your progress goes Kapoof.......

32bit servers are the current servers which are free to play servers.

Can you believe it when the population of this game is already low

you can however transfer from a 64bit server to another server but its unreasonable to charge to have access especially if your a new player.

I've been playing only solo since 2009 with my main sitting at lvl 147.

The only things you can't do solo are the multi-man instances and raids, none of which are part of the needed / direct story line.

Also from time to time you might find the onlevel stuff a bit on the harder side solo and will need to over level a bit and come back to do it.

It's the EXACT same as it was for any of the previous Legendary servers; let you sub lapse, than you no longer can play on the VIP only server. That's how it's been since the very first sub only server.

Heck it's no different than playing a sub only game, no sub - no play.

Yes you will.

We've already upgraded our characters and the launcher from 32bit to 64bit. All the game data is already 64bit, WHY do you think you couldn't transfer 64bit data to a 64bit server?

Plus SSG might as well shut the game down now if people wouldn't be able to keep their progress. That would just be cutting their own throat and they never would have gone down that the 64bit road if that was the case.

Yep, I am playing it solo and having a great time! Feels like a giant RPG, with other players running around as well

Yes. You can solo. And the "Small Fellowship" quests can be solo-played after you get about 5 levels or more higher than the quest is. Large ones need a group though.

That was changed a while back if you're talking about the one's in the epic quest line. You now have the option of doing them either in a group as originally designed or the quest giver will give you a buff so you can do it solo.
