Cannot get the game, or even the launcher to start...
I installed this onto my laptop recently. It is admittedly kind-of a potato, but It should meet the minimum system requirements AT LEAST. However, it won't even open the LOTR Online launcher, and when I try opening the launcher in the system files, I get an error message: "The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCP100.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem." There is no common answer to this issue that I was able to find on the internet, and I am almost afraid to try and re-install LOTRO. Not only because the game took me 2 hours to install the first time, but I have been seeing a common issue with people who have re-installed the game and cant seem to get it to run. If anyone has any advice, let me know.

Having a similar issue, except I can't get the game to start after I hit the "play" button on the launcher. I've tried "repairing" the game files and still can't get in.

This seemed to work for me. I also deleted the UserPreferences file in Documents/Lord of the rings online folder

Steam has a bad tendency to not load all the needed files to run the game. Off the top of my head I'm not sure which one's but I think one' s a .dll file that's needed.

If you do a search here you should find other posts like yours or you could just dump the steam load and download direct from lotro.com as it doesn't have any problems.

Make sure you have downloaded ,Net as well as DirectX. It needs both of those to work. Also, as was previously stated, there are issues with the Steam download. Download from LoTRO.com and there will be fewer issues.

Tried playing the game this morning and anti-virus software disabled the lotrolauncher.exe and the lotroclient64.exe. Reported

- If your game client not running on Windows 10 or 11, try: Loading C++ 2005 and .Net Framework 1.1. Right click the LOTRO game link in your Steam game list, pick Manage from list, then pick Browse Local Files, this brings up the Window explorer for LOTRO. Look in the LOTRO directory for the 3rdParty folder, look inside that folder and run all the .exes you find there while the game launcher Not running and under Admin rights account.

- Try using DX 11, or DX 9 if you are have DX 12. Might have to install DX 9 and DX 11 on a new Windows 10 or 11 OS load. Here is link to Microsoft DirectX download page. You need to load Direct X 11 and 9 on a new or fresh Win 10 or Win 11 OS install. >

I don't know what AV program you use, but there's no issues with either of the files you listed.

- Make sure your Firewall and active defending anti-malware programs have LOTRO directory or game exes in exceptions.
