They're too busy bringing out supporter packs and festivals

4K is actually among things that are coming. This is going to be a Long Term Project, they won't be rolling things out where "everything" has it's UI Updated.

We'll be getting the 2024 Roadmap sometime in January 2024, pending anything, so more info about this is coming soon in 2024.

Stating "fix" isn't really the correct term. It was a "choice" that UI wasn't something that they focused on until roughly 2022 where they really started talking about it and then that it'll likely be a reality possibly in 2023 or beyond.

A big thing to remember: Even up into 2022 & here in 2023, lots of people still play using a 1920x1080 Monitor as their Primary Display. LOTRO being an "Older Game" has a lot of Players using Older Parts as well. So it made sense to not worry about certain aspects until more important Projects were finished.

are u trolling or what? this game is not like DAO which is not supported anymore since it is a single player game. this one getting constant updates, i mean CONSTANT ! patches, updates, dlcs, addons, and u are saying this is not they are concerned about and people play it on trash PCs ? this is an absurd

Like Harvain said, this is something they have said is a long term project.

If you want to try to get a response from the devs about this, you'll have to go to the official forums. They don't come on here.

By the time the UI overhaul is done would you still be playing? How long is "long term"? How resource-hungry the game is under 4K is also ridiculous, it just shows how outdated and poorly optimized the game is. Shadows of Angmar on the private server look better in 1080P and much more pleasant on the eyes than retail Lotro in 4k. They keep expanding the broken code base and poorly optimized content on top over and over. The game just runs like hot garbage and makes me nauseous for some reason, excuse my language.

Private server lotro for your proper nostalgia craves, and Amazon's lotro for your modern MMO experience. Expecting them to fix everything and overhaul the game to modern standards is just not realistic any more.

Yes, I can almost bet Amazon's Lotro would be out before SSG makes any progress on the UI overhaul. Happy to be proven wrong.

You are not understanding what was stated.

They choose to focus on certain Projects versus others. An example, before the Free to Play & Monetization Updates that LOTRO started receiving, the biggest issue LOTRO had was it was too expensive.

There was a point where a Brand New Account if they wanted all the Available Content at that times would have costed in excess of $500.00 USD. After the F2P + Monetization Updates, this Price Tag was dropped dramatically. Add onto this that All Content from 2007 to 2013 with the Helm's Deep Expansion was added to All Accounts, various other Quality of Life Improvements, and getting an Alternative + Modern Early Leveling Experience greatly improved LOTRO as a whole.

Now that they have those kinds of Projects done, it's opened up the ability + Priority to do "Other Projects" such as:

- 64-bit Servers.
- New Launcher.
- Two Factor Authentication.
- UI.
- And so on.

LOTRO has received a New LOTRO Forums & New LOTRO Store (In-Game Store) here in 2023. This is all apart of the overall process to get things to where they can do Two Factor Authentication for LOTRO. But they need to get the Upcoming New Launcher working & deployed and then we'll get 2FA.

That is what I meant. They focused on certain Projects which helped Improve LOTRO for the Gameplay, etc. and now they've given themselves the time to do these other Projects. They are just on Long Term Time Tables, so it feels like it's not happening but it is.

They are not going to 'remaster' this MMO, the EG7 presentation in November (Ji Ham) already stated that it was a thought but too costly when they can make an entirely new game with what it would cost to upgrade this.

Standing Stone Games brings in revenue thanks to the whales that stay with it purchasing content that is not released in full until after you've paid for it, that is just my opinion (I used to spend like a whale on this but no more).

Kk so go apply to SSG or whatever and write a new engine to allow for what you want. Easy right?

EG7's bigger goal was getting a Console Version of LOTRO and this is one reason they moved away from the kind of Support they were talking about for years.

To put it out there, the Game they used for an example for what to invest the "$30 Million USD" number they brought up when talking about LOTRO is not going to be a 100% new game either.

The big thing is "New Games" such as MMOs are nice & shiny and usually have a Subscription-Only Service at the start. Then they shift over into a form of "Free to Play". Far more money that can be brought in during that period of time compared to an Older Game, such as LOTRO, which requires a lot of Investment (over a number of Years) and be many years before it would have ever see it break even.

Any credible sources regarding scaling UI considering Turbine's/SSG's default stance on "We're working really, really hard on fixing lag", and yet e.g. Evernight dies every evening with <1k non-anon players?
