So, just ran into my first round of toxic players....
I've never really had any trouble with nasty players n this game, cause I find this community to be one of the nicest and most helpful communities I've seen. But today, geeeez!
Basically, I was waiting for the Frostbluff Theatre to start for the Yule Festival, but it needs 3 active players to start. If there are any afk players in there, it won't count them as active, which, unfortunately, there was one in there with me. There weren't any other players in there, so I just simply posted a request in the lff that I was looking for 2 more players for the Frostbluff Theatre, and that it was starting in 3 minutes, then world chat went absolutely berserk at me.
It started with one player saying I was annoying, then tried to justify it by saying it was 'constructive criticism.' I asked him how calling me annoying for posting a request for help in lff was constructive criticism, and somehow, other players were in agreement with this player, making it out like I had caused this drama and was being the rude one, when of course I knew that was not true. Then another player came into the theatre just to slap me with an emote, then immediately exited the theatre again;
I actually found this player later in the shire completely by accident while I was doing the yule festivals in that area, and that player seemed to be afk, so without them noticing, I slapped them back, then quickly exited the area before they could see me, gave them a bit of a taste of their own medicine :D Luckily, though, 2 people showed up to help me, which I made sure to thank, for donating their time to come over, and I was able to do the theatre, so at least there are still nice people on here.
Maybe it was just bad timing, and I happened to be doing the theatre at a time when nasty players were on, because when I switched over to my alt a few hours later to do that quest again for the dailies, I had no problem there.

But I don't normally get upset with unsavoury characters on lotro, I just put them on my ignore list, and let it slide. But this situation honestly left me in tears, because it wasn't just one player going at me, but a lot of them, and they were so harsh....and for what, there was literally no warranted reason for it. Can anyone else relate to having unpleasant situations like this?

Yeah, but only when done at appropriate times, using it to bully players (and by the way, I don't just mean me when I say that, I've seen players do it to others as well) that haven't done anything is just not ok. Only time I do the slap emote myself is, like in this case, if someone being nasty specifically does it on me first for no reason, otherwise I just ignore them, but this is actually the first time this has happened, that someone did that. I mostly just reserve it for evil npcs that are more deserving of it though, like Saruman, or Angmar agents, then I slap the heck out of them, funny when they just stand there and keep continuing on in their dialogue, lol :D
