Not trying to troll in the forum for this game, honestly I am not, but "perfect"?

As mentioned in other thread, I read Hobbit and LotR as a teen in 1970's, and a few times since over the decades. I like old games (Arx, Dark Messiah, Morrowind...etc), have finished the LOTRO prologue, BUT currently struggling to get hooked by this game. I do HATE having an out-of-control quest list, so keep that list deliberately short (otherwwise it just seems so much like RL work...). I have tried the crafting and it is relatively simple and serviceable. The combat is totally underwhelming though.

After decades of gaming, I know not all games are for everyone, so will keep trying and maybe something will click when I get out of prologue area? I'll do best to keep an open mind. Should also say I have not played MMOs before, so maybe the issue more than anything...

Any insights on what\how I can change-up my approach would be appreciated. I want to like this game.

This game certainly is not on the caliber of Morrowind. However, there is a difficulty selector in the game if the combat is underwhelming.

Imo this game is more about the world, music/ambiance, lore and landscape, rather than gameplay. Like someone said, you can increase the difficulty outside prancing pony for more difficult combat.

Also I would recommend the warden class if you want faster paced and more involved combat.

I still can't believe I missed this too. I have the disks and the first guide for it... but never got the life sub... lol. I did later, however, buy a life sub for a much inferior game and stopped playing it years ago.
