LOTRO website
Hello Guys,
I just tried to go to the LOTRO website with the aim of initially downloading the game outside of Steam and to perhaps purchase a couple of expansion packs. Unfortunately both the Firefox and Chrome browsers are blocking access to the page after flagging up a security issue with the sites certificate.
Has anybody got any previous experience or able to offer advice on this issue?
I'm aware after a quick websearch, that this has been an problem historically but I'm still not too comfortable with putting personal and financial details onto a suspect site however I am still keen to play this game. I'm currently downloading via Steam but any feedback from the playing community would be appreciated.
Thank you for your time in advance.

It's just that part of the site is not encrypted. Probably game images or something like. You won't have any issues.

Might wanna update your web browsers. In Chrome: Settings > Help > About Google Chrome. In Firefox: Settings > Help Question mark > About Firefox.

On the www.lotro.com website there is no store, but you can login to the forum securely. The LOTRO game has the store inside. On the turbine website, is more important https://myaccount.turbine.com/index.php but i don't see any notices of bad certificates. Those websites are clean and safe.
Maybe you need to turn the security down a notch on those web browsers, at least till you get done with downloading and registeration of your LOTRO account.

The page with the signup thing is only partially encrypted, which is most likely what is causing the report (he stated he is trying to download the game, etc). As I said, it's not an issue and is most likely due to images not being encrypted. Big deal.

Guys,

Many thanks for the replies which are appreciated.

A registry check with NETWORKING4ALL confirmed the site had a current certificate but the issue below was causing the three browsers I used (IE, Firefox, Chrome) to block it due to the missing Certificate Authority/owner details:

Extended Validation (EV) -
This SSL Certificate will not display a green address bar in the visitors browser, nor the identity of the website owner or the Certificate Authority. EV SSL Certificates have the highest level of trust and security.

Anyway, I have a workaround so thanks again for your responses.
