Video Settings Keep Resetting
Anyone else encounter this? Video settings do not save and reset everytime the game is launched. I think it has something to do with my lotroclient.exe not closing when I exit the game. It stays active in my proccesses.

Settings are only saved on a SUCCESSFUL CLEAN shutdown of the game.

Make your settings and then EXIT the game -- by using the Options menu.
Do NOT use any kind keyboard shortcut - Windows or otherwise.

This will cause the UserpPeferences.ini (or the equilivant .plist file for the Mac Client) to be written out to your disk.

Yeah that is what I figured. Since the game isn't shutting down properly, the settings are not saving. I have just been exiting the game via the "exit game" button. Is that not correct?
It depends on what you mean by "exit game button" -- using the Escape menu and the "Exit" button there, SHOULD save the game correctly. However, other mechanics do not actually exit the game, but as you note, leave it active.

Yeah I am just using escape and then exiting from there. No shortcuts or force closing of the game. It is a pretty strange issue and already contacted Turbine support in hopes of figuring it out.
That sounds more like a Windows issue -- which version are you running.
I play on the Mac and the Mac Client has many issues which are Apple issues, not Turbine. Note the least of which is a similar "cacheing" effect which is an effort on Apple's part to "speed up" program launching - but if you are not watching, Quitting a program can actually take several minutes.

Windows 7 64 bit. It is a pretty high end desktop.
Don't know much about Windows, but there have been threads in the main LOTRO fourms about Windows 7 issues.

do you have any plugins? sometimes they have caused issues for me - the game wont exit and I have to force shutdown.

Naw no plugins. Was a fresh install from steam. I might try reinstalling.

the parameters are stored in UserPreference.ini -- is that file writeable?

At work right now so can't check, but I am pretty sure yes it is writeable.
