Personally I haven't had any game breaking lag in quite a few years and when I do notice stuttering etc... I just stop my movement and let the computer catch up to the game.
Let me give you an example of what happened within the span of an hour. I am in Mordor, and I suddenly rubberband forward 100m right in front of one of the lava filled crags. I stopped before I fell down the crag. Then I was teleported inside the crag anyways and started falling. Then I fell through the earth. And then I zoomed back up to normal ground and somehow didn't die.
Next, I was simply riding along a road and started taking massive damage when crossing a bridge. I was suddenly teleported to underneath the bridge into lava and died. I had to cross the bridge a second time later, and the exact same thing happened. I die more to lag than any enemies in the game.
And no it isn't just Mordor. Other examples include being unable to leave a room for about a minute because the door wouldn't open due to lag because it said "already in use" but the door just wouldn't open. Questing takes longer because I have to wait for dialogue windows to open up. Combat gives me headaches because skills take so long to trigger that I am just standing there getting murdered. Stopped playing my Warden (one of my favorite classes) because my gambits kept screwing up because the lag interferes with skill queuing as well as activating. More than once I rode into an area that looked clear, only to later have enemies spawn all around and next to me.
Every time one of these examples happened, I mentioned it in chat, and chat was filled with people saying they have the same issues. I know not everyone has these problems, but enough people do that it is a major issue with the game.
I have been getting more lag in the last couple months than I've ever had before. SSG keeps talking about addressing it, but they are never really clear on what exactly they are doing. Hopefully, with new owners now, there will be more money put in to fixing servers and other hardware issues.
I also will no longer continue my VIP status until this is finally dealt with.
Not a fanboy, but I do not get lag in this game. I play 14 lore-masters with pets and 2 minis, no lag. A few times a day the 15 characters that follow my main will stutter to keep up a bit, but other than that I play without issue.
