The Lord of the Rings Online™

Cannot save settings or use Plugins or Take screenshots . Pls help !
I came back to the game after a while and to my disappointment , i found out i cannot do any of these things (screenshots, save preferences , use plugins)
I think i know what the problem is but not what's causing it or how to fix it.
"My documents\The lord of the rings folder" does not contain anything else than "UserPreferences" , though i am pretty sure it should contain files like "lotro.keymap" and "CEF" ... I've tried everything , copying the folder from my other pc (it works fine there)
disabling my bitdefender run as admin ... it seems like the game does not "find" the documents folder ... Pls help if you can

There is a repair option of the launcher at the top corner it is located under options that should hopefully fix it
Good luck

perhaps windows security/controlled folder access is turned on? either turn it off or give access to the game launcher and game so they can create folders/write files

game writes preferences/screenshots/plugins to folder
Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online
if that folder is empty you have a premission problem.
OR. using One Drive? that moves everything to the One Drive folder. game does not read One Drive folders. so tweak One Drive

Ziggy or others: i found a solution after much research - but it is quite easy:

You can select specific folders that OneDrive should ignore - then they become default local folders automatically.

- click the one drive icon in the "Show hidden icons" menu in the Windows-bar
- click the settings button - select "Settings"
- under account tab select "chose folders"
- -you might have to deselect some child-folders to be able to deselect the main folder
-- make sure your document folder is disabled.
- when this is done your default Document is now the local one
-- you can check this by selecting your file-explorer and right click on "Documents" and selecting "Properties" and then the Tab "Locations" - the path should now be the local C:\Users\********\Documents

Hope it works for you !

There is more info here on the onedrive stuff (dont do as the first answer recommend)

Thank you very much. You are the only one in the whole internet who explained how to fix this problem.

I simply disabled One-Drive permanently. Not only does it cause these sorts of 'hidden' issues, it also impacts performance of any app that is using them.
