Lifetime account - Can i play through steam?
Hi
I have a lifetime lotro account. I didnt realise it was available via steam. I want to be able to achieve steam points and achievements.

Is it possible to play it through steam if i have my client already setup?

thanks

If you load the game from steam, yes you can. Steam provides a client with the steam overlay, but they all the same game.

There are no achievements, there's nothing to get from playing through steam other than being able to use the steamwallet funds and having time played displayed there (provided you launch it through steam).
Other than it's the same game, accounts, etc.

The Steam install is a pain and is only worth it IF you need to use the Steam wallet ^^

It's for people who'd rather charge their steam account with funds now and then and use those instead of using a credit card or other payment methods everytime.

You can also use the Steam overlay.

what do you mean steam overlay. The steam wallet seems interesting.. how would loading lotro in steam add stuff to my steam wallet. i cant see the connection bro

It doesn't add stuff to your wallet, it allows you to use your steam wallet funds to pay for subscription or points.

If you press <shift><tab> during a game (and you have the Steam Overlay option enabled in the steam settings), you will get a screen with your friends list stuff related to the game you're playing (news, guides, discussions, etc).

It's not very useful IMO, but I have multiple screens, and I just open the Steam client on another screen if I need it.

You don't have to use the overlay, but to be able to use the Steam wallet as payment method, you need to have it enabled in Steam.

Ahh i see. I actually dont need to pay for anything in this game. As title states i have a lifetime lotro account. When lotro first came out you could purchase lifetime accounts (around £300) if i remember.

You can play the game sub free with all updates expansion free and you get 500 turbine points (thats what used to call them) every month.

I don't think even lifetimers get the expansions for free, but everything else yes. And you can buy the expansions some months after release with all the hundred thousands of points you've gathered over all these years.

Ive never paid for any expansion. They are free. Well have been for me

Well, great then.
So you don't see Minas Morgul, Helm's Deep, etc in the ingame store?

They're free because you get 500 Lotro Points (Turbine Points) for free every month, and you can buy expansions using those.

Expansions do NOT come with Lifetime or VIP subscriptions.
