Error 201?

When I do log in and choose the server, the error 201 suddenly appears. I tried to re-install the game, but it still doesn't work. I also tried some suggestions, but none of them were good. Some more suggestions would be welcome. Thanks...

you played over 400 hours and now this error occurs? something change? windows updaet? new firewall/antivirus?

just the antivirus. but i actually tried to unable it and still nothing

no need to disable it. try adding exception for lotroclient.exe and turbinelauncher.exe

"the whole folder"? which folder?

lotroclient.exe and turbinelauncher.exe need to write to your Documents and probably other folders. they worked for over 400 hours. you download a new antivirus and now you are getting 201 permission errors. need an execption for these two programs.

dont know if you have played since the last update but check the last section of the above link - maybe a corrupted download. check the anitvirus logs - should be an entry about denying access. check the windows event viewer - might be something there.

did you get the windows fall creator's update since you last played. it causes problems for some users.

I think you're using Windows 10 Fall Creators. If so, you have to use DX11 to play the game. There is no fix yet. You will have much more crashes with DX11 (problem SSG knows about) but it will start without that error. In some forums people said, this happens because of the new Anti-Cheat included in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. Game was running fine before the update.
