I have to ask though since you've played all the way to level 35, what've you been doing so far with all the hides that show up in your loot bag?
Medium is the next up, then sturdy.
It correlates with copper, barrow iron/silver, rich iron/gold ore in the area.
So when you see copper ore, the animals will give light hides.
You being L35, I suggest going to Ered Luin or the Shire, and kill wolves (There are a few wolf-dens in the Shire, and a valley full of wolves in Ered Luin)
If such a cap does in fact exist, the only thing I can think of is to hunt them with another lower level toon and then put the hides in your account's shared storage. IIRC your vault and your houses chest can be accessed by your other toons. THB though, I haven't played the other 2 toons I created, so I'm not 100% about that.
Low level animals have a chance to drop light hides.
Clearing out the wolf dens in the Shire a few times should yield enough
OK cool and good to know.
Another question is what what subspecies were you hunting? As well, did you check that subspecies on the wiki links I provided above, to see if it in fact drops light hides - a row of icons for each that shows what they may drop. There's no point in hunting 100's of 1 subspecies if it don't drop what you need.
Take wolves of the Shire for instance. Most subspecies (Wolf, Bold Wolf or Snarling Wolf) may drop light hides, but the Grim Maw wolf doesn't.
