Over the years the game has become easier and more solo friendly. What used to be group quests can now be done solo as the game will give you a 'stone of insperation' that increases your morale (hit points).
You can also obtain tokens for a 'landscape soldier' which is the same as your skrirmish soldier, just used out in the normal game so you can run quests as a 'duo' if you find you need to.
Instances / skirmishes can be run on level as long as you take your time and think about what you're doing.
Some classes have a much easier time soloing content so you need to take that into account as you play.
What would be the ideal solo class?
Guardians have a heal skill
For a 'comes with the game' easy solo class I'd say Ministrel. Pretty much a 1 button kills class, or a Hunter as they're very strong in 1 on 1 attack's.
It all depends on what you want.
I like minstrels (self heal, decent ranged attacks) plus you can heal groups if you happen to not-solo occasionally.
Hunters (DPS, fast travel) are great because of the fast travel they have (The world is BIG)
Captain (support class) is interesting... With the right setup you more or less can't die, but getting the class going is a bit slow.
I am new picked hunter the world is huge trying to get a mount but i dont see fast travel?
Different dungeons have different difficulties. Also as is with all games some are run more than others. Forgotten Treasury and Barrow Downs seem to be run alot and currently some of the end game one's are being run.
While I'm sure some of the Kin's run certain one's, all the one's I've seen / done have been PUG's. I'd say LoTRO is one of the more favorably inclined towards PUGs.
If you open the instance finder you can look at the different instances / skirmishes you can do and how many people you can do them with 1/3/6/12.
The fast travel I meant is NOT the swift travel from the stables. They're special skills you gain/buy/earn. When you're in a fellowship, all fellowship members (that are close by) can join in the travel btw.
This last feature makes hunters useful as taxi cabs :-)
All races get a return to (city) at a certain level.
The return to X ports you're talking about come at different times in the leveling process and Warden's get them too (not the taxi part though I think that's just for Hunters).
All characters can also get Reputation ports as they work through area's. For Warden's they're called musters. I'm lvl 88 and currently between the class ports and rep ports I have 12 different one's. Very useful feature.
