If you want Centaurs, and Minotaurs, Satyrs etc check out Chronicles of Narnia.
Lewis and Tolkien were friends and talked to each other about their writings. Tolkien did use mythology in his stories but either tried to reform them differently and make them his own creation like Elves which originally are based on just regular fairy-folk like Tinkerbell or just based humanoids off human mythology. Lewis just liked the fantastical creatures and threw them in.
I somehow doubt that but I know he created the elven language and its lore.
Dont know why everyone is saying narnia I found that good only when I was a kid read the book watched the movies when I was 10-13 satyrs are boring eagles with a different name.
