Nothing like some good ol' illogical sense!
My take on it was if you download via Steam you're not getting the 100% up to date version and once you've launched the game will be looking at another long download while the game patches it's self up to the current version.
Also there's been a problem with the Steam downloads of DDO & LotRO for a while now in that they won't work and the only solution is to delete the Steam version and download direct from the company.
The version from the LotRO site won't be up to date either, but it's still a lot newer than the version from Steam.
Most (if not all) problems with the Steam version come from missing (or failing to install) support libraries, C++ redistributables, DirectX bits.
The only thing different between Steam and non-Steam is the Steam overlay, and the possibility to use funds from your Steam wallet to purchase things like a subscription. If you start the launcher directly (by going to the folder where it's installed), the game will be exactly the same as the stand alone install (so without Steam overlay and wallet support)
Everyone who doesn't know as much as you is stupid. It's why you're an expert on every subject and have such an awesome life. Obviously.
Same I finally updated it after being a away for a bit, and it won't even launch when I press launch =( I feel like I always have problems with this game via Steam.
I’m not sure this sufficiently serves as the sole measure of one’s intellectual capacity, but I didn’t know this - thank you for the tip :p
seems like a scam. i played lotro a LONG time ago and want to try it again. did turbine(?) give up on the steam client or something?
