Naming your character in this game is nigh impossible...-.-
I'm the kind of guy who roleplays his MMOs heavily and that includes naming my characters in a correct way. Trying to get a good Gondorian male name is pretty much impossible because all the good ones are already taken. I've tried so many combinations for naught, and I do not play a character whose name does not fit the world, it just feels wrong. Especially in Lotro, where there's an established world and lore, it's really hard to find a good name that is not taken. Anyone else who has hard time naming their characters or do you just take what's available and move on?

I had a hard time, but I finally was able to get a name(and moved on I guess you could say). My character is a Elf and is named Mirmel.

Mirmel is not a bad name for an elf to be honest.=) Could be a lot worse. Gondorians are probably the most popular choice for those who select men as their race and Gondorian names are kinda different than other names for Men. Oh well, on to other things.=)

After I lost my main's name in a server merge I kind of accepted it and just went with a name from a book series I like. He's a man, but I really doubt an Italian style name fits! :)

For my other 3 I did pretty good (even the last 2 in 2015/16). Went Old Norse/Viking with my Dwarf and can't remember where I pulled my hobbit and elf from but the names aren't jarring.

There's a naming site that my son always used and I looked at once for fantasy characters and it gives you the choice of names from real regions or fantasy races. There all random and for the fantasy seem to give good choice options. You might try a google search.

Yeah, I tried name generators but even many of those names were taken...It's just ridiculous. You have to be insanely lucky to get a lore friendly name in Lotro, especially if you play with an gondorian character.

It's very hard indeed. Just keep trying and you'll get a name eventually

I'm totally agree and I suffered looking for a name for my characters, but I found this pages that helped me a lot to get good names:

https://www.behindthename.com/
https://www.elfdict.com/

I hope these help you

I got a pretty good name fortunately and was able to start playing.=) But I'll check those links out to see if there's good names to use.=)

In the first one "behindname" you can search names by countries and have old german, english and norse names the other one "elfdict" is a elf (sindarin, quenya) dictionary, very useful for create names composite for single words, for example I have a Warden named Thalionorn that means something like Strong Tree (Thalion = strong or hero and orn = tree)

Hmm, I have to check that out, sounds a great way to create names for Lotro.=)
