Sonic Allstars vs Mario Kart
First off I can't really compare the graphics for Sonic to Mario, because it blows it out the water. With Sonic being the most awesome looking kart game i've seen to date with 1080p everything on high. So colorfull and excellent wacky level deigns. Being able to transform is a great new feature. Great Characters to pick from, with cool power ups. Mario for Wii is the last Mario Kart game I think I can remember. What you guys think is a better game overall?

you really cant compare those two, MK is more casual-friendly and and luck-based, while this game requires skill and you cant spam items randomly to win.

And MK:wii was worst mario kart ever.

I really like Mario Kart Wii and i don't think it is really luck based, the onl thing i thought was missing is challange.

Mario Kart Wii is sooo based on Luck and collusions.
The best way to win is just let yourself get 5th place on the final lap. You'll defininty get a Star or overpowered item.

I have been playing Mario Kart since the SNES version and have all versions of the game. The Wii version's AI really cheats and the rubberbanding AI in 7 is insane. I take a really huge shortcut with a mushroom and all of a sudden they can catch up to me in 2 seconds. While rubberbanding is prevalent in this game it is not as bad as Mario Kart.

Sonic Racing series have been a breath of fresh air. The first one was decent but really easy but this one blew all my expectations. It's so much more fun when you don't have a blue shell chasing after you every 30 seconds. Sure there are bees but at least you can dodge those.

My opinion on the subject is basically identical to Robin's here. It doesn't help that I outright despised Mario Kart 7 and it's total lack of innovation (and the soundtrack sucked, too). Meanwhile, Transformed added depth to basically everything from the aerial stunting mechanics to the boosting mechanics, of all things (and the music is really damn good).

Ever take that massive shortcut in 64's Rainbow Road? The one that if done properly skips about a third of the track? I dare you to do it, then change the HUD so it shows the racers' positions along the edge of the screen and watch as they put fireworks in their tailpipes to reach you by the end of your lap. It's the same case if you can pull the lap-skip glitch shortcuts in Wario Stadium and Frappe Snowland.

...I don't know what point I was trying to make. I do agree that Mario Kart's items are a little unbalanced. S&ASRT did it right by giving each item somewhat of a skill mechanic to use and to dodge them. The only item that really doesn't have that is the ice powerup, which there's no way to dodge without a lucky block shot or having a glove out. That's the only one I complain about though, except when i'm in online races getting bees shot at me every time someone hits an item box. At least I can swerve around those and not get owned by four or five blue shells in short succession.

5:53 PM - PeeJay Bonobo: I've said this before, and I'll say it again:
5:58 PM - PeeJay Bonobo: Both franchises bring different flairs to the table, and that's why most people enjoy both games. You can't really say the All-Stars Racing franchise is better than the Mario Kart franchise, because of the two different styles. I think most people switched to the ASR franchise due to its slightly more mature flair (You could just play Blur, people), but reality has it that either way, you're playing a luck-based racing game, just with a different set of items in your arsenal.

Its pretty easy to dodge, if its straight, just move from side to side and use rear-view, though its sometimes pure luck to dodge it, but Id say twister is much harder to dodge because its really spefic when you have to boost, like if you are nano-second too early or late, its gonna hit you, especially online due lag. And dont get me started on eggmans all-star..

For any GameCube people who played MK: Double Dash!! and then played Mario Kart Wii, you were probably as horrendously disappointed as I was. Double Dash was skill based, fun, with unique properties and unique cars and unique powerups and two driver switchability... It was just so bad in Mario Wii, where you couldn't manually slide/drift and there were no more unique power ups depending on your character (Toads? Gold Mushroom. Bowsers? Giant Shell Koopa? Triple shells. Kong? Huge banana. Yoshi/BIrdo? Item egg. Peach/Daisy? Item absorb shield. ETC, ETC). And now you have the same car no matter who you pick. Toad can drive a heavy vehicle. Bowser can ride a light vehicle, etc. Oh, but it had online. Woopee.

Unique power-ups? Petey Pirahna and King Boo could access ALL of them, so...

Also even though Mario Kart Wii isn't the best in the series, I had a lot of fun with it. Besides, MOTORCYCLE WHEELIEEEEEEEEEES!!!! :3
