Yogscast dlc?
So there's a yogscast charity dlc coming out right? That sounds both weird and awesome! What do you guys think?

It's a joke. Can't get Billy hatcher, because "can't agree on a vehicle", but we can get some youtube guy.

Classic SEGA character, ♥♥♥♥ off. Youtube guy, come right in.

It seems though that they are making other dlc characters and this is just a part of the yogscast's yearly charity thing.

It's really silly that I haven't seen a single video of S&SASRT from the yogscast until this point when they start to use it for their charity. First time they actually do something and WAM!, here is yourself as a character in the game.

Like always; money is probably involved.

Or everybody just likes helping charity, but yeah, let's just assume the more cynical option.

"Oh hey guys, we know we've been really screwing up with some of our games lately, so to apologize we're adding some totally random Youtube celebrity to the game and you can only get him if you pay 25 bucks to charity!"
Right, because I totally didn't already have incentive to donate 25 dollars to a good cause and get some damn good games in the process.

The more I look at this, the more I realize this is little more than a petty, pandering "good publicity stunt". Either SEGA or SUMO (if not both) are trying to win over the masses with a 100% illogical cross promotion featuring "one of us youtube gamers" while trying to (ab)use the Humble Bundle and it's partners-in-charity as an excuse to justify said illogical cross promotion.

(EDIT: turns out SUMO didn't have much choice in the matter, at least as far as what characters get added goes. {citation needed})

If SEGA was actually concerned about making money for a good cause instead of trying to pull a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ publicity stunt, they would have greenlighted last year's S0L Challenge winners and used those characters as incentive to purchase the Humble Bundle instead. You know, giving the fans what they ASKED FOR while still promoting charities like Child's Play - kill two birds with one stone, so to speak.

You DO know that SOL has stated that there are more surprises than just that one DLC, right? That, perhaps, there could be another character, or something similar, in the wings? You could stand to think before you speak.

Sounds like cancer.

There's no way. Not even if they put Toejam and Earl in.

If they try and do a PewDiePie tie-in I'm going to set fire to a dog

Contribute $25 or more to charity and get all of these items, while supplies last!
Funny thing is, you could get all those games for much less(especially if you are only interested in one or two of them) from other sites and sales. And I didnt even find that dlc on humble bundles site, so how do you know its not 25$?

Check this page out[pastebin.com]

Found it at the Sonic Retro forums. It'll specify all the details on the humble bundle stuff.

"There's also a special DLC for Sonic All-Star Racing coming out on Steam from the 6th of December featuring Simon. It's being done seperate to the humble store because they wanted to do it for Special Effect Charity only, but Valve and Sega are waiving all fees and 100% of money earned from it is going to charity."

So basically. Sega/Valve is not profiting from this, SpecialEffect is however.

Yeah, I've had the possibilty of future DLC actually being worth the wait spelled out to me before (see this post). I'm still pretty damn ticked off that the closest thing we've got to 1-year-anniversary DLC isn't even SEGA related, regardless of whatever future plans S0L has in store.

$25 for a bundle of games makes a bit more sense then $25 for a DLC character, charity or no.

That said, there's no telling what the price range is. If we use Metal Sonic + OutRun Bay as a basis... they probably shouldn't be charging much more then a buck. I suppose they could make it a bit more, what with it being for charity.... except, most probably aren't going to buy a character they never wanted for MORE then what Metal Sonic + OutRun Bay cost.

Now, if on the off chance it has more then just Simon (i.e. SEGA characters/ tracks/ whatever).... well then, things change a bit now don't they?

Does make much sense when you could get same games for much less if you buy them speratly from sales, especially when at most time people buy them for 1-3 games they acually are interested in..
