Possible Initial D DLC?
Since SEGA has the license (lolpun) to the Initial D series (for the "Initial D Arcade Stage" games), is there any possibility of a Initial D DLC?
Would be pretty awesome to play as Takumi Fujiwara with his AE86 (Hachi-Roku), or race down the mountain highways of Mt. Akina and the Irohazaka freeway.

This request would seem awkward and out of place; but I only bring it up because SEGA does have the license for Initial D games; and Initial D is one of the most popular racing games in Japan - and a pain to play if you're a fan of the games/series overseas.

Plus this game has a rather heavy focus on drifting - which is Initial D's forte ("ULTRA SUPER LATE BREAKING TECHNIQUE!")

(sidenote: Arcade Stage 7 port to PC maybe plz?)

I'm seeing two big hurdles:

1. The series is likely obscure outside of Japan. Granted, that's not always a problem (see: Marth and Roy in Smash Bros, Zobio and Zobiko in the first Allstars Racing (although they were from a House of the Dead spinoff)), but, well, it would have to contend with other SEGA characters that ARE well known. Characters that people in other regions would prefer to have.

2: Not seeing any potential for a character, as they would need a boat and plane mode. I suppose they could pull what they did with Mii... but I wouldn't bank on it happening.

Maybe a track. Might be tricky to put in some transforming spots. But, it worked with OutRun Bay.

*cut*

1: I will admit that the series is a little bit obscure outside of Japan, but not so much. Funimation recently picked up the dubbing/subbing process of localizing the anime for streaming services (Hulu/Netflix). The arcade games have had official US ports before (like Arcade Stage 4), but as of Arcade Stage 6 & 7 there seems to be no official US port (you have to find an arcade that has imported arcade games - "Round 1" for me in Southern California)

2: I can also see how that would be a problem; as the series is mostly about mountain drifting in Japanese sports cars.
Maybe at least a reference to Initial D in some sort of form. Maybe a race course/race mode; a special 1v1 Uphill/Downhill race with friends on a downhill course focused on drifting (Again Mt. Akina or Irohazaka)

I just notice a lot of focus of drifting in Sonic & All-Stars Racing, and since Sega has the license for the Arcade Stage games (and Extreme Stage for PS3), there could be potential in putting the series in this game somehow.
It has potential, but it's not exactly a SEGA created franchise. They just simply make the games based on the anime. And while you can argue that Transformed isn't just SEGA All Stars thanks to the 6 guest characters in their respective console versions, it still drives more towards the main core of the SEGA franchises (with a dab of side characters who appear next to the main one their respective title).

As the previous guy said, there's also the issue of having the boat and plane to compensate with, and Initial D is mainly just about cars, and we already have one car that transforms while keeping the main bulk intact (B.D. Joe) and you can only have so much of those.

The real key difference here is that Relic is now part of SEGA ever since THQ went down, and all their creations are now SEGA's IP. Meanwhile, Initial D is a franchise owned by Kodansha and has given SEGA the license to adapt the series into a game franchise. Much like how SEGA used to have the license to adapt the Marvel movies into games (Iron Man, Captain America, etc.).

Seriously, read up on the business side of gaming. Arm yourself with knowledge.
