Black screen after intro movie
Like the tilte says, I get a black screen after the intro movie. It doesn not matter, if I skip the intro, or watch the whole video. The screen becomes black. The game does not freeze though. I can navigate through the menus, as I can hear the sounds, when pressing up or down on the d-pad. I am running win 8.1 64 bit. Geforce gtx 770 (driver 347.25)

Please someone bring a solution. This is such a nice game!

You could ensure your graphics card isn't forcing Anti-Aliasing, this has been known to cause the black screen issue, especially on AMD/ATI graphics cards, but worth checking even in Nvidia control panel.

Some people report the black screen issue after upgrading to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8.0, but this usually affects intel graphics. Only solution here is to revert to Windows 8.0 (re-install the Win 8.0 OS).

Ensure the game is installed on an internal hard drive, playing the game from external hard drives can cause black screens and unresponsiveness.

Verify the game cache in steam.

Try disabling your Anti-virus and Firewall or make sure you have exceptions set for the game.exe.

Here is a post I found with a link to a zip file, to replace files in the movie folder, to stop the intro movie playback, I have not tested this so I have no more details for you about it. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=157918643

I think I run it at max resolution. My Desktop resolution is 1842 x 1024.
Having the same issue, not forcving AA, no AV stopping the game, running on an internal hard drive, not the win 8.1 becausew this is a new proiblem for me. Resolution is 3440x1440 :p

It's probably your resolution. Set it to a standard one like 1920x1080 and it should work.

I'm glad it's working for you. I'm on windows 10 too but it really doesn't like my 3440x1440 resolution sadly :( I have to play it at standard 1440p... FWP
cambia la resolución del juego por una mas baja y ponlo en modo ventana para jugar

For some strange reason it only does this to me when I try to play the game in windowed mode. If you're playing it in windowed mode try switching to full screen and see if that helps

Looks like the game does not accept ultrawide resolutions, such as 3440x1440 or 2560x1080. 2560x1440 (letterboxed) or 3840x2160 (VSR) (both 16:9) work.

It is a restriction within the executable. There has been an elaborate Hex value fix available at some point (see WSGF http://www.wsgf.org/dr/sonic-all-stars-racing-transformed/en), but the exe and its exact content have since changed...

It's a pity this has never been patched, especially since it's a racing game. Probably wouldn't happen nowadays since ultrawide resolutions have a respectable, if small, share.
