Help: Can't Start Game

So last time I played the game about a month or so I had zero issues, then I went to play the game today and it refuses to open. I get the Steam is launching the game message as if its going to run, then nothing happens.

I've tried running the game direct from the launcher, and I get the following error message-

"The procedure entry point ??critical_section@Concurrency@@QAE@XZ could not be located in the dynamic link library MSVCR100.dll"

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, and this doesn't fix it. I'm not missing the DLL so that isn't an issue. I've tried re-downloading the DLL and that doesn't do anything either. I've also tried placing the DLL in the folder with the game and again this doesn't fix it.

When I Googled the DLL, it suggest installing the C++ Redistributable Pack, I tried this and again it didn't fix the error.

Can anyone help? I'm desperate at this point, I love this game and want to be able to play it again. I might add I've had the same issue with Sonic Generations, so it seems like it could be a thing with all Sega/Sonic games on my system.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Heya,

This type of error is commonly caused by downloading the DLL by itself and placing it in system32. Installing the VC++ redist when you are having this error will not work as it will detect the DLL there and not purge it. You will have to uninstall all instances of the redist via Add/Remove programs, and then manually delete every MSVCR100.dll on your computer.

Once this is done you should ensure you're downloading the correct redistribution, too. If you're running 64 bit Windows you need both the x86 and the x64 version. If you are using 32 bit Windows you only need the x86 version.

If you have any more trouble setting up the game, check the guide below! It has everything from troubleshooting the game with various issues (as well as fixes for them) since launcher not opening / trowing errors, black screens, controls not working, etc! It has also a lot of information on how you can optimize the game for low end / high end systems :)

Anything you can't find there just shout out for IceBlade or me, and we'll help you out (and then i add the newly found bug and it's resolution to the guide as i've been doing lately :P)

Its embarrassing how many problems this game has. I can't even get it to start, dealing the same library issue. Many of the old library file links are dead now. What a headache. I just gave up. Seeing that someone took the time to make a complete guide really shows how poorly made this game must be.
