Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed Character Tier List
Hi there.

Since no one has made a tier list so far this year for this game and that Team Sonic Racing is coming soon in a few months, I thought I would make a tier list pertaining to all of the characters in this game with their respective Boost/Console Mods. I know people will definitely disagree with my tier list so I will least appreciate some appropriate feedback towards my decisions.

Thank you very much! :steamhappy:

Definitely disagree when it comes to TA and MM alike. Amy and Mee in skilled hands can out beat many of these characters, I know I did and I'm not alone. When it comes to speed alone, Ralph > Ages due to vehicle size where Ages is a freaking nightmare. Tails and Gum are also higher along with Eggman. Sonic alone also rates much higher. Quite a reminder that tierlist for this game will never be perfect since more than half the gameplay depends on player skills alone.

This looks mostly right. Shinobi is certainly not in the same league as the 5115 (Speed, Accel, Handling, Boost) characters. He is probably A at best. Gum could probably also be moved up a couple of spots. Sonic could probably be moved up one.

A lot of it comes down to the course as well. Ages, Ralph and Gillius will win out on most maps, but when it comes to Egg Hangar and Sunshine Tour, Metal or Shadow are better. Also, Roulette Road is the one map where having a little more handling helps out; Willemus is the best there.

That only works for TA. Not for MM. Also if we judged based on the fact that everyone has the same exact skill with every characters. You can easily crash any 5115's party with slowdowns thanks to their lack of accuracy. Boosting helps but still needs time to pick up speed back. I don't really believe in "tiers" of characters in a game like this since there's no real objective best. =/

At this point, might as well make a tierlist of mods over characters since it's what matters most.

I have to respectively disagree. You are right, skill can overcome another player who is using a better mod. The mod is not the end all be all, but weather we are talking about Time Attack or Matchmaking, the 4116's, or the 5115's or in the case for roulette road the 4225 are going to be the best suited for those tracks.

Some people may have a hard time with certain tracks. Take Chilly Castle for example. People tend to like more handling there, because they don't always know the best way around the corners. This may make you think that higher handling is better and perhaps for them it is in terms of their skill level. As someone who really knows Chilly Castle, I know I can take Ralph and his console mod in match making, and beat people much harder than I would if I was using Tails console mod. If you ask all the top players, they would agree that the 4116 and the 5115 are the best mods in any mode.

I am not a top player by my standards but as someone averaging 158th~ across all 42 tracks on the in-game leaderboards for Time Attack, I have to agree with Yiffer on this one. There is certainly a subset of characters that just do not have the stat spreads to compete against the likes of the 3 spreads mentioned above.

Sorry, no Pichu mains out here, boyos.

I will still say that it doesn't work for Matchmaking all the time simply because I've objectively beaten pros with Amy or even Meemee. But yes, in the case of TA, I tend to side more with Ralph or Shadow in terms of fastest characters. Remove items in MM and sure, it might also apply but otherwise, I believe luck plays a certain role here like using heavy in mario kart. Same logic...

People who never get hit will probably fast forward ahead but as soon as they are stuck in a war, other characters can zip through easier. Heck, even just being hit once or twice can be the bane of 5115 characters. I also hate the idea of everyone always aiming for "best tier" characters...

I value my skills a lot more when I manage to beat people Amy and even more with Meemee. If we apply the certainty logic that Ralph or Shadow always win then you've got people who pick them for nothing but the sake of easy modding through MM. If they can even use them right...

My first post should have said that I disagree with it when it's about MM, not TA. Though I do wonder how some Amy characters in TA gets much faster times than say some Ralph users. And I mean people who gets much better times than even me. I am sure there's something else to it.

At any rates, I feel proud of the skills I've gained with MY characters and not ones decided by some tier list. I feel it's kinda boring to only play characters judged godly when all those other ones exist to be played with. Having tested Ralph in MM, I still prefer Tails, Amy and Meemee.

Hey I will be the first to tell you that I hate the tier list. Tails is my favorite character of all time. I remember when I first wanted to play time attack I wanted to save all my times for him. Well if you are going for world records, you have to go with the fastest characters. Now I have saved my mirror times for Tails, and I have gotten some crazy times witth him. One in particular is my Roulette Road time. If you took my time with Tails, and placed it on the standard one, it would be in the top 10 of the legit runs. I am not saying you can’t beat other players with mid to low tier characters, because the skill itself is more important. What I am saying though, is that regardless of if it is TA or MM, in the hands of a top player, the higher tiered characters will be better almost all the time. Yeah, the game has items, and you do get bad luck, so you can still lose with any character, but even in those bad luck situations, you are better off with a top character. But with that said, you will still see me play Tails much of the time in MM, just because I do want to play him.
