Has anyone ever figured out a way to go above 60 FPS?
I just got a beastly new computer and a 144hz monitor. I'm curious to see if anyone ever found a way around the cap to prevent the slowdown. This is easily my favorite racing game on Steam, and I'd love to see it at a high refresh rate.

It's locked at 60, I believe there is a way to force it to go past 60, but if memory serves, it messes up the game pretty bad.

The information would be in this forum, you might just have to search a few times.

You can force it above 60, but it slows down the game, hence my original comment. I've already looked through the Steam discussions but didn't see anything helpful.

Your comment isn't very clear on that, "slowdown" could have meant any number of things the way it's used in that sentence.

But the clear answer to your now cleared up question is, No.

That's a shame. Thank you for answering the question.

To run it over 60 fps, you simply switch vsync on in the sonic transformed config, then force vsync off at driver level in nvidia control panel > manage 3d settings > program settings > add > ASN_App_PcDx9_Final.exe

(If it's AMD I don't know?)

Also with nvidia, don't mark for compatibility with windows 7, because none of the driver options will work.

CPU performance with windows 10 is pretty poor, it doesn't actually run that much higher than 60 fps, and it can even drop under with overclocked i7. But with windows 7 or 8.1 you can run 100-120 fps + with i5 or i7 as long as you have good enough GPU for the resolution.

So, the game does not slow down when you run over 60 fps, but it is quite stuttery. It behaves the same when you cap the frame rate at anything other than 60 fps or 30 fps (even when it drops from these frame rates, even on the consoles, I've seen this on 3DS and Wii U)

You don't want to run over 60 fps with this game. I enable vsync in config, disable vsync in drivers, then cap at 60 fps with RTSS. No vsync and 60 fps cap on 120hz refresh for less tearing less input lag.

Oh, also, if you have 144hz monitor, you need to force highest refresh from driver level too. It will only run in 60hz mode, unless you have done this. But if you just want to play 60 fps really smooth and fluid, but with input lag, then you run it in 60hz with vsync, or you run it in 120hz with half refresh vsync forced from drivers. Or if you want to play with less input lag, then do what I do in paragraph above.

I can barely get to 60FPS on a rig that plays DOOM on Ultra. And that's not even on max settings.

The slowdown shouldn't be due to any FPS cap. It's 'cos the game generally runs as smooth as a sodden geriatric donkey after five pints of Egyptian whiskey.

Windows 10?

Try running it on windows 7 or 8.1, you'd be surprised

It ran fine on my old PC with a GTX 760, which probably couldn't have run Doom on ultra. Sorry that you're having trouble, but this is not the thread to complain about it in.

Thanks for the tips, I was referring to that stuttering you mentioned. I'll try your method for the 60 FPS cap and 120hz refresh rate. Still a shame it isn't fully functional above 60 FPS.
