Silent Hill 2 Crash Fix: Error 887A0006 / D3D12RHI / LowLevelFatalError

My Problem:

While playing Silent Hill 2 , I encountered frequent crashes with error messages like:

887A0006
D3D12RHI
LowLevelFatalError
After much trial and error, I found out that the issue was related to a DirectX error , which didn’t work well with my system or drivers.

My Solution:

Here’s what finally worked for me:

1. Update your Graphics Card Driver:
Make sure your GPU drivers are up to date. Download the latest version from your manufacturer's website ( NVIDIA , AMD , or Intel ).

2. Update DirectX:
Ensure you have the latest version of DirectX installed.

3. Force the Game to Use DirectX 11:
Since there seemed to be a problem with DirectX , I forced the game to use DirectX 11 , which fixed the issue.

Steps:

Right-click Silent Hill 2 in your Steam library.
Select Properties .
In the General tab, locate Launch Options .
Type -DX11 and close the window.
This will force the game to run on DirectX 11 , solving the DirectX error and stopping the crashes.


This solution worked for me, and I hope it can help anyone else facing the same problem.

Yes, unfortunately that is not possible ...
I still use a Vega 64 myself haha, so I haven't tried anything else yet. Hopefully there will be an update soon that fixes it

wouldnt vulkan not even sure if this game supports that but wouldnt vulkan work better
