Voice acting of Maria, it looks like they take actress from middle school theater. False emotions and their absence. Horrible.

She isn't all around bad. The old lines delivered in the new game are worse in most cases. I blame the director

I found her really annoying like I almost didn't save her at the motel part they made her talk & comment on things way to much.

I think she did good. It's just that the highs of the og actress was much better. The letter read at the ending is some high tier acting of the original compared to the remake.

The writing is a little dated and they stuck with it (which I appreciate). I think that's what you're noticing

This is correct. I don't even dislike the exact same actress' Mary performance in this exact video game. I'd guess the lines were coached in a weird way, or odd takes were used on purpose to be uncanny.

new staircase scene's line delivery honestly makes me want a mod that replaces the audio with the OG voice acting. visually it's very pretty, delivery-wise it's a downgrade.

it's almost not possible for me to have watched more david lynch, and the closest thing in his catalog to this remake's maria is maybe twin peaks season 3's audrey? or maybe the diane tulpa?
