stalker 2 is unplayable right now. its not just stutters, you keep losing game saves, it crashes , you cant move at all some times.
for average joe i would say stalker 2 when it got fixed but for horror silent hill 2.

It works with no issues for me so far, I'm playing it at 4k ultra.
Meanwhile Silent Hill 2 won't even launch at all.
So as I said, Stalker 2 is 100% more functional at this moment.

How is this even a discussion? I completed SH2 remake 5 times without any issues. In Stalker, I quit my playthrough 6 hours in, waithing for devs to fix memory leaks

Yes, Stalker 2 is a technical disaster, you only have to read test reports in the web. This game suffers from a few stutters on difference pc systems, but is playable without problems worth mentioning.

Stalker 2 is a buggy mess- that’s a game to avoid for at least 6 months while they patch everything.

For the price, Stalker 2 is far more game for your money but it needs some patches (coming soon.) SH2 is good but overpriced, even 20% off IMO.

Its only a bit more unplayable right now than this, but this ♥♥♥♥ is over a month old and barely runs.

Both have some issues, both have shader warmup hiccups for some users, both have some temporal ghosting, both have frame time issues that some people (like me) can easily overlook and others cannot, and both are in varying iterative states. That said, personally, I've enjoyed both games without issue. But be aware YMMV.

Apart from that, just from a design and personal taste standpoint, if you played the original SoC and really, really valued the A-Life system in that game and that's a super specific thing you demand be replicated or improved upon in HoC, maybe hold off for a while.

While I personally don't mind the current implementation (I'm more in the "A-life is nice to have, but doesn't really make or break the experience for me" camp myself,) and while they just patched it to massively improve the sense of life and dynamism in the Zone, it's still not up to some people's standards in that regard. Depends on your personal criteria/demands.

I think it's a great, atmospheric, tense game though. And so is this, in obviously very different ways.
