So how did they fumble the Mariah cell scene that badly?

I love the remake, I honestly think that it's done very well. I hate that they censored some portions, like the piston room, but I can at least acknowledge why they did it. I heavily disagree with the decision, but I understand it.

I however don't understand how the same people who made this game also made the cell scene.

You're missing the point. The remake looks better, sounds better, but the direction and intended emotional response is all wrong. Why are her eyes clearly visible, where is the puke inducing harsh white light, where is the scarry tone?

In what alternate reality do you live in which has the piston room censored in the remake? The remake literally takes everything from the original and multiplies it by x10. The whole section, the atmosphere, the sound, even the voice acting of the girl that did angela, it’s absolute PERFECTION.

they left the jank in 2005. It's not the same game, it's a new game with the same script with different actors, different animation capabilities etc. It's like remaking a black and white movie in color and complaining that it's not in black and white with the same actors. It's not supposed to be a direct copy otherwise it would be called a remaster. It's too bad it didn't jive with you but that's not an objective experience.

The only line that bothers me in the remake is "I'm not your Marry".. After all the lines delivered up to there, this one is just like.. anticlimactic.. It misses the sharp change in tone, it's just too bland and.. comfortable.. like trying not to insult.. I therefore invoke patch 1.07..

Just as the OP has a right to their opinion, so do others. If you don't like people sharing their thoughts and feelings, then you're on the wrong board (particularly being that you don't even own the game). But your guys' opinions have mostly been "we are right, you are wrong, nitpicking, biased and nostalgic".

I haven't gotten one reply which doesn't boil down to "is prettier therefore better". The original became a cult classic DESPITE the poor production quality. Doesn't that tell you that it's the details, which I'm pointing out as missing, are the reason why the original was good to begin with?

Not to mention the guy claiming that the piston room wasn't censored. It was literally a room where the walls represented angela's fleshy insides getting ♥♥♥♥♥♥ by her father. Now they're wallpaper and machinery. As I said, I love the remake, but this has objectively been toned down.

And before you resort to "it's not a carbon copy so what", it doesn't have to be one. I liked some of the changes, and some of them should have been left on the writing room floor.
