Mabi of Old
Just wondering whos been around long enough to remember battling black wolfs with tons of other players around campfires, looking for a group to travel to dunbarton so you dont get killed along the way, and finding many dungeons crowded with plenty of lfg parties?

Its some of my best memories of mabi...

I recently tried BDO, got a few tiny mabi vibes, but ultimately it fails and all the similar systems just feel like poor half effort no thinking copies of mabi.

It was weird, because during the older days of mabi, even AFK'ing was kinda cool. On mari server, DB square was where all of the well known people in the server just kinda chilled when they weren't doing dungeon runs. I don't know how they managed to make every part of the old stuff fun, but I wish they could somehow do it again. I was spending somewhere between 30-50 bucks a month on NX, and i never felt cheated.
They simply have an over abundance of content nowadays.

Unlimited range fireball
Non-fadding lighting bolt
Housing Cake Dupe
Glitched Paladin PvP Murder fests
Renaming Guilds about figurines and liquid adhesives.

These are my best memories of mabi of old.

Hmm! Back when I played the game was out of beta for a couple weeks I think. There were only like.. 3? towns. No Emain yet or weddings or paladins. It was a ton of fun then.. and the friends I made back then are great. But everyone is gone now and the server I currently play on feels so dead. I never thought I'd see a time when there was only a single player other than myself in Dunby.

*edit* Come to think on it.. I wonder if there was even Bangor when I started. xD I can't remember for sure, honestly. It was on my old account (forgot the password) but it would be very interesting to see how 'old' my character is on it if I ever logged on that again.

I think they need to combine the servers.
More than likely not gonna happen. They do need the oppurtunity to change what server your pet or character goes on instead of the only solution is to delete your character and start fresh or buy that pet again to start it on a different server but that requires sacrificing alot of your money just to do this. Even when speaking to support bout the pet solution to set it on the correct server my other characters are on they basicaly said the same thing which was go into your files and delete your pet files and bam fixed, WRONG, all it does is wipes your character or pet completely clean off the game and theres no bringing it back. :tcry::steamfacepalm:

The game's dead in North America. Nexon shat it up as per usual. It's still going strong in Japan and Korea though.
That's no surprise with how dead the community is anymore unlike it used to be where people flourished together pretty much anywheres ya go. I'm hoping this project I'm starting soon will rectify this problem and far much more to slowly get it back close to way it was back then in its prime golden days also increase the player base. I really miss those times!

I am about to step for a bit for the first time. . .a year and a half? Two years now?

I remember when Paladins and Dark Knights were released, before us freebie players could even play the generations at all. I remember the launch of Iria. I remember when Ciar normal was actually a challenge. Back when the moongates had a rotation and there were parties in dungeon lobbies and always someone willing to run with you.

I am so far behind at this point, still cannot get myself to uninstall. Probably will only hang around for a few days before vanishing again, but who cares.

Yeah I remember when the game was true P2W when rebirths had to be paid for and the only thing to do was to run dungeons all day.

Good riddance.

I remember the days when Ciar dungeon lobby was jam packed with everybody, Tir Chonaill was the trading hub, black slender robes meant you were cool, Alby intermediate was a nightmare, soloing rabbie basic was one of the best ways to make money, and (later) peaca dungeon took anywhere from 13 to 24+ hours to complete with 2 to 3 full parties of 8 people. Good times 😃
Mannn so many good memories xDD <3:steamhappy:

I spent probably thousands of hours in Mabinogi back in 2009-2012ish. Before Iria was released and right after is when this game was at its peak IMO. Running Ciar Basic with a whole party, n+ smash with dual gladius, having a difficult time reaching level 30, etc... Everything about the old Mabinogi was amazing. The combat required skill because your moves had cooldowns, charge times, and were limited (melee, magic, and archery were the only forms of combat), whereas now it's just about who can hit for the highest number with their reforged, red stone, super upgraded weapon.

Mabinogi began going downhill after the alchemy update of G9, shadow missions, and easier EXP. It's when players began to become too powerful and the game became more about soloing to get the most EXP instead of working together to defeat a dungeon that was actually difficult.

This game is dead to me, but if it were ever remade or a private server released with content only up to Iria I would definitely play again. It's nothing how it used to be.

I was there before the Seal Stone blocking the way from Tir to Dunby was broken. Great times. That was around the time the basic flat colored robe was considered "cool".

I also remember when Tir ch1 (Tarlach) was the main player shop area, and then something happened to ch1, so everyone moved to ch2. And then Iria came, and with the continent warp, the shops left Tir for Dunby.

I also remember the Lorna and Pan Red-vs-Blue event between Tir and Dunby, I wished there were more events like that.

I'll be honest, I haven't played this game at all in the past 3~4 years. Was gonna get my friend that played with me since the beginning and try out new characters on our old accounts, just to get a fresh look at the game. (I still even have my Owl Robe rebirth card from that Owl event from like 6~7 years ago, never even used it for whatever reason)

I finally quit right around the time Hamlet and all of that stuff was added. Honestly the worst addition to the storyline ever.

No, they need to have 'Old School' servers like Runescape does. All of this new content is embarrassing and they've already killed their own game. That's why you can't find anyone to play with. When I log into Mabinogi now, I instantly get lazy and turned off by what the game has become.

the ira saga and newer generations have been quite good the only thing that makes me cringe is the Shakespeare generations urgg.

and old alchemy was trash compaired to the new improved version since it did not scale at all in the old one.

if you wan't hard missions do the phantasm dungeons and gneration quest and stop playing shop keeper.

I started in close beta in 2008 when it was first released, I remember seeing the game as a breath of fresh air. In a really cramped mmo space which considered of point and click skill spam mmos. Along with just a few online multipler games. A game that required you to plan and predict your moves instead of auto attacks and skills. I still remember trying to adapt to the system as a fighter grinding off wolves for exp. Before going after bears which always will ether end poorly or I will scratch by with little health left. Dungeons and roads leading up to them, used to have alot of people looking for others to ether help them with the Gen 1 quest or simple runs. Doing part time jobs to make some gold for better gear. I would give this game other chance. I actually tried going back about a year ago and I had to use graphic and other mods. Which fixed most of the issues of the game, but after playing for one more year I just didn't see any point of continuing. Most of my friends that were in the guild with me had moved on. In way this game has protenial but it just never got the right updates or fair monetization to ensure it could keep up with new mmos.

Yea, I remember those early days, where traveling itself away from a city was a huge adventure that you took your friends on, and how the jobs and npc buy prices were actually useful, oh and all the crafting was worth more than just the stat boost. It kinda feels like they never properly balanced the old stuff with the new stuff.
