Questions for the "Tail of the traitorous lord" puzzle?
So, right now I'm trying to finish this specific mural puzzle. I have yet to beat the game unvoided as Grey (I have the cube, sword, and wings) so I don't know if that applies to anything here. I know that the puzzle seems to be that I have to screenshot areas in which Tail's tail appears. I have about thirteen screenshots so far which I assume is all of them. What I want to know is:

1. Each tail has a shadow/underbelly that is colored darker than the rest of the tail, do those need to be consistent when putting the image back together?
2. Do I need to rotate the photos or otherwise manipulate them in some way?
3. Once the tails are assembled, do I need to take any extra steps in figuring out how it translates to the mural?
4. Are there tail pieces that can be ignored?

For what it's worth, solving Tail's brand is a fairly late-game puzzle. You've still got a long ways to go before you'll need to solve that before you can proceed, so don't stress out about it too much. It sounds like you've got the right number of pieces, and every piece is important.

A few hints to keep in mind:
- You do not need to rotate or otherwise manipulate the images at all; they will fit together perfectly on a 6x6 grid
- They don't form a single contiguous shape, but the pieces that do touch each other will line up perfectly.
There is also one specific thing that a lot of people miss; if you think you've got it figured out but it's still not making sense for you:
- The pieces mark where there should be holes in the floor, not tiles

This is one of the few broken puzzles in the game.
The solution i had looked more "right" than the actual solution.

You should look up the actual solution, because even if you understand the puzzle 100%, the chance that you will get it right is rather slim.

There is even another thing, that the post above me doesn't mention, and even with THAT help, the correct solution is pretty weird to me... Looks like the snake has a broken spine in the correct solution... That's EXTREMELY missleading. WHY would i line it up like THAT???

Wait, but there are only 13 images, how would they fit on a 6x6 grid?

Well, I guess that might also be a little bit of a spoiler if you hadn't figured out what you're assembling yet, but the tail rooms are meant to provide you with the information you need to solve Eus' mural. Each one of them corresponds to a location on the mural.

I dunno man, I've seen a lot of people figure it out on their own. I feel like the real question is why you keep hanging out and complaining on the message board for a game that upsets you so much.

I could gather as much. Right now I'm kinda stuck tbh. I feel like I've gotten the tail pieces roughly together. Two groups of two, one group of three, and a group of six. But I have no idea how to even begin at guessing which places they would correspond to on the mural itself without a lot of trial and error

There is an answer in the puzzle that tells you how "those" parts fit together.

You should require no trial and error. Still doesn't mean that you are getting the correct solution though.

yeah I 100% agree with this. The puzzle needed more playtesting. I wrote a thread complaining about it recently.

I think the "tail of the traitorous lord" hint is wrong in a couple ways. A better hint would be "the parts of the tail you can see are the only blocks NOT in the brand" Even with that info you will still likely need trial and error since there are still multiple solutions that look equally "right"

I got really close to getting the actual solution myself I just had a couple pieces out of place when I looked up what the answer was. I had the exact right idea I just didn't feel like spending another 3 hours on it. I think what most people forget to do is work with the pieces of the brand they already have. The mural might be damaged but you can still infer information from it. You take that existing information AND the other stuff you figure out and build the solution that way.

Mind I still agree that the puzzle is a little obtuse but it's still functional.
