Do not buy Premium Ships!
Sure, you get increased incom; does not need repair; generate 20% Free Synergy; and a instant rank boost if you buy a Premium.
But, aftering buying the Empire Rank12 bundle and the Jericho Sawtooth DLC, I missed out over TWENTY career quests, and that means I missed out over TWENTY destroyer parts and over 5MILLION credits.
I bought those ships 6 months ago, and now I decided to come back, but after I came back, the game greeted me by saying: "SIKE! You're not getting those 5 million credits and the destroyer parts. Now go Fuc Yourself and start grinding from the start!"
Do not buy the premium ships and DLCs, spend the premium currency on Licenses.

I no DLC's , one DLC is very Good , the DLC on one Loot Place on win PvE and PvP and Co-op Battles.

Original PvE 3 , on DLC 4

Original PvP 3 , on DLC 4

Original Co-op 2 , on DLC 3

-

Buy Premium Day's and you Loot 2 more on win Battles.

Original PvE 3 , on DLC 5

Original PvP 3 , on DLC 5

Original Co-op 2 , on DLC 4

On Time is Price to HEAVY , better is the DLC for one Loot more.

My Money to low for the DLC on half Price , and to Heavy for Premium Days.

-

All my Games on Steam is win , and Frends , and Bundles , and low Price Games on %.

Dunno. I got to R15 even before those level-up bonuses were in place. And now I have excess of every single crafting material including monocrystals (1200 spare) Enriched Beryllium (53) and neodium plates (80+). Still have some ship parts from Spec-Ops to use in any future ships. But I agree with OP - the best way to learn this game is to go up rank by rank. Premium ships are no better than their non-premium counterparts in battle.

The last changes on this matter were:
+ increase of resources needed to craft ship parts
+ a noticable decrease in the drop rate of resources

While the first change is in the patch notes, the last point has been brought up and documented by players...

My guess, when you have your storage filled with enough resources to build any ship... you've either a lot of loot luck, or you farmed your resources before those changes were made.

IIRC requirements to build ship parts are the same as they always been (I checked my second account and notes from a long time ago and that's correct) since introduction of Secret Project ships. Same story with Destroyers - same amount of Enriched Beryllium and Neodium plates + Monocrystals as at introduction of the Destroyers.
Noticeadble decrease in the drop rate of resources - again - no. Monocrystals were introduced to the drop table after missions, so I can get easily 15+ Monocrystals per day if I want to (with some pve farming - 12 missions to be accurate), add to this Spec Op drops. 2 months ago I had 265 monocrystals, now over 1200. So nope.
If you are talking about Beryllium - one Enriched Berylllium per day is easily obtainable and if you do some OS scanning - even more.

I can't get monocrystals in PVP, and I'm stuck at one on Broker's task...... I need that one ship part for those 15 monocrystals

"Resources
Changed the way of obtaining resources for destroyer manufacturing
Increased ore requirements for plates:
One beryllium plate now requires 10 ore units
One neodium plate now requires 10 ore units
All players with neodium and beryllium ore in storage at the moment of update will have their ore reserves increased proportionally."

Most posts mentioning a decrease in the drop rate of resources were either locked or removed from the forums...

I run at least 10 Fire Support missions per day, and i haven't seen more then a handfull Mono Crystalls from them, plus 1-3 Impure Neodium at best.
And that is with 7 loot searches on every mission...

As mentioned before, all drops are random, i can use the Spatial Scanner in Open Space as much as i like, and don't get something really usefull from the Mysterious Containers i find, while someone else might get lucky with every one of them...

This is why i would like to suggest daily PvE tasks with clear rewards, that are not locked inside of lottery boxes.
Oh that change for destroyers - yes. You could gather 20-30 neodium plates per day before that.
Neodium is hardest to get as it shares the drop pool with some premium ship parts. Still with neodium task active it takes time, but you will get there. To be honest it's easier to get materials for R11 destroyer than for the R8 one. Much easier. Just today playing R11 granted me in 12 games 6 beryllium and 4 monocrystals, 6 more monos from open space missions, one neodium plate found in open space and one monocrystal found in alien space. Plus 2 impure neodium form the task Total: 6 beryllium, 1 neodium plate, 2 impure neodium, 11 monocrystals. I'm not focusing on any of those resources, I'm just getting them by playing.
Also posts regarding drop rates are still on the forum, but they reflect the state of things as they were around April I think.

you have to fly R6+ fully synergised ships to get monocrystals from loot screen. Also to get a part for the ship you have to fly fully synergised ship of that rank (R5, R7, R8, R10, R11 or R13).

Is it okay if I have one R11 ship with full synegry and 3 r12 ship in my slots?

As long as you will fly that R11 - you are fine.

My count for today, after 10+ missions, 1 Spec Ops, 1 Leviathan sector run, i started out with 66 Monocrystals, and now i'm locking at 70.
5 Impure Neodium, 3 from missions and 2 from the Broker task, which is a bit better then on the usual days.
And they upgraded the container icon with the patch, but the drop is still the same.

As mentioned above, after 10 successfull mission, you should get at least 1 full ship part of your choice, and not just some random collection of "resources".

Yeah - your impure neodium is just about what I would expect from 10 missions as well as 4 monocrystals. So I assume you were flying R8 ships and as I said before - neodium is hardest to get from drops of all resources.
You have to take into account that there are people doing 70+ missions a day so dropping one ship part per 10 would mean getting destroyer in 2-3 days (which was doable the first few days after they were introduced) and as Cinnamon stated - destroyers need to be earned.
Don't worry - I needed 1400 missions to get my Brokk :D

I don't know that I can get monocrystals in Leviathan. Plus, spec ops are basically impossible to play cuz no one plays it

In Leviathan - I never got a mono from Leviathan. Higher danger level Alien sectors can have monos. Also - "no one plays specops". That's a common misunderstanding. People are creating groups of players that playing with each other, so usual way is to create a wing. Playing T5 destroyer specops without proper group is the fastest way to disaster. Even dedicated group needs usually few tries to work out the tactics to win. So simplest way is to get into the corp or ask in the global chat for such group.

No, there are no Monocrystals in the Leviathan sector, this is just my daily "to-do-list".

And try a rank 8 or 9 ship for rank 7-15 Spec Ops, especially with an Engineering Frigate with a fitting setup, it should become doable even with a random group... as long as at least a few of them know what they have to do, and you keep them alive.
Sadly, I only have gunships and snipers
