[Mod Request] Print Everything Scanned
I really want a mod that lets you 3d/pixel print any scannable item.

It bothers me that some objects you need to craft with a recipie, some objects you need to buy, some you can only find, and some you can print. It's kind of cool, in a progression or mechanics sense, but I don't like the inconsistancy. When I'm building up and decorating a base, I dont want to have to look on both the workbench and the printer, and hope I stockpiled enough of what I wanted from the frog the day he was selling the stuff.

So, maybe you have to buy stuff from the frog, or unlock it with a blueprint then make it, but once you scan the item, it gets added to the printer like everything else, and from then on, you can print it from there. Maybe you can get access to some cool mission only stuff too (or those cool Ark holigrams and stuff)? Or maybe not.

I've just started looking into how to mod myself, so if absolutely no one else is willing to make this happen, I might be able to eventually. I'm fairly certain it couldn't be that hard, but I worry it might have low compatability, or be tedius to implement. I don't yet know how Starbound handles objects like that.

Edit: I'd want to exclude stuff like vendors and such.

Why mod in something already in the game?

Because the vanilla scanner doesn't allow you to print everything you scan - only most things. Stuff purchased from Frogg Funashings for instance, cannot be printed after you scan them, Things that require blueprints cannot be printed after you scan them, most (all?) paintings ect. I want those things to be added to the print list after scanning them as well as everything that is normally added.

It even says on the page you linked to: "In addition, many crafted objects cannot be scanned for printing, as they're manufactured through crafting. This also applies a number of objects sold by merchants."

Well yeah, by design being able to replicate things you could otherwise buy or craft by hand would be redundant. As for your other items, they're like trophies. Bottled bugs for instance.

But you'll probably see a mod pop up for it soon, if there isn't one hidden amougnst the other uploads already.

I get that it would be redundant - there are systems in place for getting most of these items I even think that's a pretty reasonable and cool way to go about it. It adds variety and intrest to play, more than just "scan all the things".

So, I still support having to unlock, find, or buy things normally, just, once you have, you have everything in one place. I just think it would be easier to have only one place I have to look when I want to craft something or a lot of things when I build. To be able to browse all the items available to me when planning, and to be confident that once I have scanned something, I know I have access to it.

You're forgetting that the ability to print crafting surfaces was removed.
Which is the one reason I haven't made a mod like this already, because I don't want to fight with adding a tab for crafting surfaces.

Actually, many recipes found in boxes can also be printed - perfect example, most chests. So year, redundancy is already there.
