For the performance side the game is poorly optimised and mods can improve a bit but won't fix this. Atm there is project called OpenStarbound that is using leaked source code to fix that, its on GuitHub.
You know, like when you want to build something long, you hold click and build as you walk.
It's lag spikes, not falling through the floor. Sorry if I didn't explain that clearly enough.
My suspicion is that it might be caused by building too much on one planet. So I've moved all my crafting stuff to another planet, on which I am building a castle high above the clouds. Because floating castles are cool.
Will probably move my garden and 20 fridges there too. Because sky gardens are cool.
I don't know if it'll fix the lag... but it'll be fun to build.
