If you look around the forums, you'll see MANY are encountering your CTD, along with many other types of crashes. You'll find some saying deleting and re-downloading the game helped. Others claim installing the latest Visual C++ drivers help. Others claimed updating Windows itself helped. However, none of these solutions worked for me, and many many others. While many are able to play 1.0, the game is in *desperate* need of some massive fixes at the moment.

Eventually I did find a short-term solution that worked for me, although may or may not work for you. I have Win 7 SP1 x64, and I had your error message.

Someone suggested I run Starbound.exe from the win32 folder, and now 1.0 suddenly works for me without a hitch. Despite the fact I have a 64bit system and Steam recognizes it as such, I can only run the game if I run the Starbound.exe out of the win32 folder. Of course, everything worked perfectly for me prior to 1.0 (as with 99% of people encountering problems now).

Again, it's likely you'll need to simply wait for them to make a legitimate fix for 1.0. Who knows when that'll be, but good luck.

The 32 bit fix works for me as well, but I can't join friends through steam. I reall hope they fix this soon, I was not getting this error at all yesterday.

Here's a link to a website that tells you how to whitelist, it also tells you useful tips.

Do not mind that it says /windows-xp/ in the url it works win 7 and above also.

You could also try this if all else fails: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zR57hcZuigI

I've only been getting this error recently. I have too many mods for the 32-bit version to work at a reasonable speed, so that's not an option for me.

update: I solved the problem that caused it for me, and it was the Tenant Pack mod... not sure why though.

Not me, but my boyfriend also has this problem. We both can't get it fixed, even though he has studied this kind of ICT. Anyone have any suggestions?
