Starbound, stabilty, and why the hell is there lag spikes still.
When i bought this game, i expected a stable game

Not lagspikes: the game.

The game constantly lag spikes. it will be fine for all of 10-20 seconds, and then everything stops loading. monsters' ai stops, world loading stops, hit reg stops, everything stops except for my movement.

I dont know what's causing this, its not my internet since im hooked up on ethernet directly to the magical internet box. And its not my pc, since my specs of a ♥♥♥♥ing quad core, gtx 1050ti, and my 8gb of ram are well above the near toaster rank specs the devs provide.

The only other thing i can think of is hard drive space being low for the game to load in more terrain, BUT IM ON THE DAMN STARTING WORLD THATS FINITE LIKE EVERY OTHER WORLD. WHAT DO YOU WRITE TO THE HARDDRIVE? You could say character updates with collecting items and all that, but the thing is that adds like 1-5 ♥♥♥♥ing bytes of data on to the character.

Im actually getting pissed off. the game only takes up like 25-40% of my cpu, and is hardly writing anything during gameplay.

I'm gonna ♥♥♥♥ing defrag my harddrives if i have to. both of them. I just wanna play the damn video game for ♥♥♥♥s sake.

Any solutions people? Cause im close to just saying ♥♥♥♥ it and uninstalling the game to free up space that can be used on something worth my damn time and wont have these lag spikes

Having the same issue
Yep, thanks to the SummerSale I start Starbound every day to drink soda - who would've thought...and even in the short time it takes to consume 10 cans, the game freezes every few seconds for a few seconds.
I was excited to play Starbound again properly, when time was available, but when it stutters like this, it wont be worth trying.
Also I never experienced such lags before - and 'before' goes way back into the early access phase.

I have hundreds of hours in this game, since early access, and this has ALWAYS been an issue. Probably won't ever be fixed.
I have NEVER had an issue with this game. Modded and un modded. No lag what so ever. Then I stop playing for 3-4 months and start again and it LAGS so terribly much! WHAT THE HELL CHANGED!? I have a crappy pc and I had NO problems running this and now people with HIGH END pcs can not play it anymore?

Had some FPS issues and stuttering that caused me to quit playing. Tried a bunch of stuff that didn't help me, but maybe it'll help you. See this post: https://steamcommunity.com/app/211820/discussions/3/1842440600605766351/

also having lag spikes (FPS drops for a short time), playing vanilla
They happen more during combat it seems, but maybe this feeling is bias since the lag spikes are most annoying during fights.

Why don't they fix this?! :-(

During the beta and even on 1.0 the lag isn't as bad as it is on build 1.4.4. Every 10-20seconds i see lag, mainly when i encounter any type of npc hostile or not. Everytime that happens my machine lags up like nothing and i miss up to 5 seconds of activity causing me to take massive damage mainly when im playing. Makes the game pretty damn well near unplayable. anyone find a viable solution?
