So if you are still having problems with any "kill X" achievement, try with a new character, and that may do the trick (my assumption is that any achievement "unlocked" while the bug was up has bugged the character itself to unlock the achievement).
Rather than continue to enjoy the main character I have played, the work that I have put into designing my ship, my colonies, and so much more, I feel forced to abandon that and start over from scratch. You may think it's not a very big deal to create again, but what bugs like this do is create the threat of it simply happening AGAIN. I could create another character and do all of the work I have done so far to reach that point of completion, only to have another set of bugs yet again nullify my characters' achievements and progress.
This has already happened twice before and it was an acceptable risk during the beta versions. Now that we are several months into full release, it is completely unacceptable that players should be asked to scrap their characters and worlds in order to circumvent simple bugs and errors. It does not make for an enjoyable play experience, least of all in a game whose mechanics are so focused upon creative construction and world-building.
