How do you build a house?

I have a handle on the basic controls....but am finding documentation and tutorials lacking. It says I need to build a bow....where do I get plant fiber? I figured out how to make a crafting table and make wood planks...is this how you build a house? What about the background? I built a door but cant seem to place it. Little noob help here please lol

Plant fibers drop from vines underground. Use axes to get them (or your matter manipulator).

Wood comes from trees you chop down with an axe or matter manipulator again.

The background can be destroyed by right clicking with pickaxe or matter manipulator.

Build a house with any block you feel like building with.

The vines start to vibrate a little if you're hitting them right.

You can set blocks in the background with your right mouse button.

For a door you need blocks above and beneath it else you can't place it.

anyone know if its possible to make wooden planks not be created in 4x4blocks, and instead have it 1x1 blocks? kinda tired of having to crop down so many trees just to build a small house lol.

I think I read your post right. In order to place or mine ONE square only you hold the shift key =)

Right mouse button

You also use the right mouse button (with a tool) to remove blocks and ore from the background.
