Tar on desert planets.
You can't use it as fuel, odd.

Tar is too common, i have few 1k stacks....

Idk, I love how fossil fuel powers inter-stellar flight. Made me lol the first time I found out coal is a legit source of ship-fuel

Tar is less common than wood.

But it isn't exactly a source of fuel. It burns slowly at a low temperature AFAIK, which makes it ideal for torches. So there should be a wood + tar torch recipe.

So, you have no problem with a spaceship advanced enough for FTL interstellar travel, but you balk at the idea of it being able to convert wood into fuel?

I'm more interested in the "water" in tar areas.
Is it oil?

I landed on a desert planet after ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around for hours trying to find guns. (yeah the desert planet with the Avian Airship) and saw that the planet had tar and wondered. "Hmm, my ship is low on fuel cause I cut barely any of the damn trees I come across, I wonder if you can use tar as fuel." I was reasonably saddened by this ordeal.

I believe the "water" on the planet is Dead animal remains. Wait a second.

It's purple usually, I don't know what it's supposed to be, but you can place torches in it and they don't fall off.

Observing the "tar" makes your character say it's Thick Rancid Tar.

EDIT: Ah your talking about the liquid. I think it is Oil.

well I think it could be balanced out, maybe refining the tar and oil in the questionably useless refinery?

Just out of curiosity, what color tar is everyone finding? Most of what I've found was purple, but I also found some blue tar on one planet. I've also seen bright yellow obsidian and light purple obisidian, so for whatever reason these blocks can have some weird color variations.

I found actual Black (Earth style) tar.

I actually like this alot and think that perhaps you should need to refine other fuel sources, not all but some of them.
Yeah cause as of now, you usually have THOUSANDS of pixels by the time you can make the refinery. Refining fuel in it would add to its Tier 2 Worth.

I Kind of want it more difficult to move to other planets honestly.... lol I know I will catch abit of hate most likely for that but honestly it just seems like planets arent anything special at all its more of a pit stop were I grab some things and leave. Maybe I am just wierd? xD

No, I agree with you. I think it should be harder to fuel your ship.
Astasia 9 DIC 2013 a las 9:54 a. m.
Ah, interesting, I've been assuming purple was the default color (I have 16 full stacks of purple tar ATM), but black makes more sense and it's strange I haven't seen any of it.

I too like the refinement idea.
