The left/right hand system is confusing as ♥♥♥♥ all and needs to be fixed

I can't tell how to put an item in my left or right hand when I have it equipped (like bandages) and somehow I accidentally put items in my right hand so right clicking instead of left clicking uses them. Please for the love of god fix this in some way because it's so damn confusing.

I wouldn't put actual usable items in the left/right hand system, it is meant for weapons and shields in my opinion, very nice system for that.

Uhm in the middle of your hotbar there are some bigger places with L and R indicating your hands just drag it in there other than that everything goes into your left hand by default I think...
And the system is needed once you fight with a shield so yeah I never found it to be confusing

It's not that confusing and I, personally, don't think it needs to be changed. It works well for me.

Left clicking is always your "primary" hand. Right clicking is your "off hand". Anything you select from the hotkeys will automatically go into your primary hand. When nothing is selected, you will 'default' to whatever you've designated for your hands (I have a shield in my off hand and a one handed weapon in my primary as default).

Chill out, first of all. Second of all... it's like anything else - drag and drop into the giant L and R buttons in the middle of your hot button keybar.

So if you look at your hotbar, there are two large spots that are blue and red. The left one has a big L, the right one ha a big R. The L being your main hand, usually where you want to put your sword or such. The R being your offhand, where you want to put a shield, or if you want, a second sword. You can use Z to switch these hands back and forth as you like.

Also, if you have a shield equiped in your R slot and you clicked your flashlight in your hotbar, you can use your shield and flashlight at the same time.

you can click and drag any 1 handed item into the L and R colored slots at the top screen. pretty simple, if you want to select other items while still keeping the L and R items default, you just press the hotkey the item is assigned to. badabing badaboom
