This game smells just like Terraria (spoof)
Since no one has bothered to compare the two games, I thought I'd share my own experience.

When I first played Terraria, I thought the game was so good at conveying the experience of exploration and digging in the dirt, I could actually smell the aroma of adventure and exploration. Mud, ash, and felled trees will do that. I thought I would never have that experience again. But then I picked up this little gem, Starbound. I watched videos and the word 'Terraria' uncontrollably spilled from my lips. When to my surprise the game became available a couple of days ago, I immediately bought it. I created my character and zapped down, and....THERE WAS THAT SMELL - Just. Like. Terraria. I hope some people can begin to recognize the similarities in smells and begin to ask if the games play alike. I for one would like to know if they are basically the same game because if they are, not only will I stop playing, but I will write Steam AND Chucklefish and ask someone to refund me the hours I've played so far - life is too short and I'm still working through backlog from Summer Sale 2011 (that was a good year).

....They smell sooooo similar. I suspect something is afoot.

Also, I see the game is early access. All I know is, the game better be finished by next week or else this is like a total scam.

Also, can someone predict for me if this will go on sale during the Steam Winter Sale?

And while you're at it - can you tell me what date and time the sale begins?

Oh - and is the game worth it? I mean, has anyone done a playtime*enjoyment/cost analysis?

You know why no one's bother to compare both games?

Because it's stupid... and obviously within the same gen.

It's like comparing an FPS with another FPS, why the ♥♥♥♥ would you ?

I remember playing Command & Conquer one time, then I had a funny feeling...that I had played it before. Only it was called Warcraft. Though I really enjoyed C&C because I really enjoyed the genre at the time...so I never felt I needed to write to get my "hours I've played so far" back becuase that would have made me, pretty much an idiot.

Though I was impressed that it took hours for you to realize that this game was in the same genre as Terraria, most likely the reason you created YET ANOTHER "LIKE TERRARIA" post that started with "Since no one has bothered to compare the two games", becuase you obviously never looked before.

Now back to my character inside Starbound, that will most likely get wiped, and put another few hours in so I can see if I can find any bugs for this wonderful game, that is in beta, that has bugs, and that is like Terraria. Enjoying it....

Clearly I'm terrible at being sarcastic. Flow & Cushman8019: the post was made precisely to show how irritating this question/comparison is getting.

But I'm glad to know I have some skills that need improving, lol. Maybe I should just stick to games.

Loads of people have compared the two games, it's hard not to. But they are two different games...

You know, there used to be this thing in gaming called "genres". Similar looking and playing games were all grouped together under these sub headings and everyone rejoiced when a new game in their favourite genre was created.

I actually got your sarcasm, but only after reading through all of your post.
Maybe the others didn't before responding?

There are plenty of posts comparing them both. As far as I'm concerned, they're all copies of Mario Bros. 'Nuff said.

There are many people on steam who make posts like this and mean it.
