I couldn't run BF4 beta worth a ♥♥♥♥, and when I tried to change settings ingame, I got kicked, every single time. I ended up banned from all the servers for it.
Now that the full game is out it runs fine. It's hard to make things work for EVERY SINGLE PC SETUP OUT THERE.
Be patient and give them time, beta is beta whether you like it or not.
I do have all cores unparked though, and I'm running an HD6990 and 24GB RAM.
Wouldn't that make my cpu hotter?
Yea mines unparked.
Same with me... Trying my best to cope with the current lag.
Only if you've overclocked it.
That was something to try IF you have a problem with running it not if you're doing just fine. I appreciate the feedback however.
Overclocking makes CPU run hotter for entirely different reasons and purposes.
Unless you've got a ♥♥♥♥ cooler, setting a program to one core will not overheat it. I've done it several times and the CPU never got any hotter than normal.
Windows is fairly good at using proper CPU affinity anyway, and developers can set programs to use certain affinity settings as well, so it's not really needed and is more detrimental to do it yourself.
My cooler isn't the best so it does make things run hotter on one core like that, but does it hit the Tjunction or Tcase max? ♥♥♥♥ no it doesn't.
Core affinity has nothing to do with changing the code and as such running a program designed for single-core that's running erronously on a multicore cpu will benefit from setting it's affinity to a single core. I had this problem with the older version of NFS:MW (not the new jacked-up version ), the game was running erraticly fast until it was set to run on a single core and then it ran normally. A similar problem cropped up in a virtual world like Second Life and an MMO City of Heroes. Again setting the core affinity corrected the issue.
