I don't understand the point of the pixel compressor...
When you can essentially "bank" pixels by collecting ore, and refining just as much as you need at any given time.

You collect Pixels by other means too. A creature on a level 4 planet can easily give you 250 Pixels and there are chests with several hundred Pixels too.

The compressor allows you to bank these pixels.

And transfer those pixels between characters.

still 40% loss is rather steep price for that. >.< owch

can you place the pixeis like blocks? if not you should be able to >.>

maybe like 100 pixel blocks so you can make a house out of money XD

i have just unlocked the beta sector and even without going there yet it is starting to dawn on me that you will be drowning in pixles in short time. so the compression loss may not be such a bad thing. especially since you get to keep the compressed money too if you die.

Its for mitigating the death penalty
The Hopping Chaos Dec 14, 2013 @ 4:32pm
It's more like insurance....if you're expecting to die several times trying to acomplish something the 40% bank fee can easily equal less than what you'd lose otherwise.
Think of it as something to do with your pixels when you're done buying and crafting with them for a while.

If your about to fight a boss or exploring a new planet at the next tech level up, or farming really deep in a planer then its quite possible you could die a few times in a row. Being able to bank pixels at 40% loss is cheaper in the long run than losing 30% several times in a row.

If you are in the middle stages of moving from one tech level to the next then you may have accrued a large amount of pixels with little to spend them on, its nice to be able to store them safely for use when you move up your gear and have to start farming dangerous areas again in your old stuff.

Or if you have high-level gear that gives you 300+ HP, at which point killing yourself and respawning becomes the fastest way to heal.

Though by that point, pixels are mostly just for decoration anyways.

Hey, there's an idea. They should make Voxels into placeable blocks so that endgame players can build houses out of money.

I don't mind the pixel bank so much. It's just the 1500 price to make the thing early on that feels a bit much.

Nope. Eventually the pixel droprate "breaks". Threat Level 10 creatures in sector X drop ... 6-10 pixels. So do those little things you smash.
Crimson Phantom Dec 14, 2013 @ 7:11pm
Perhaps I just die less than other people. If I'm going somewhere dangerous, I'll just spend all my pixels beforehand. And, as I pointed out, once you have the refinery, you have a steady, secure supply of pixels at all times, so long as you're mining ore.
Azraile May 18, 2015 @ 9:50pm
There are also mods that can help you get pixels faster by braking down the items you find in dungeons. One of my faves is the universal uncrafter. It takes anything and ... well uncrafts it. It only returns about 40% or so of the price to print a paticular item in the 3d printer but it's nice.

But where you make the money on that is it brakes weapons down into metal that you can throw in the refinery.

Though there is some problem with it and other mods weapon drops where you some times get 90 diamends when you brake them. Hopefully that will be fixed. But everything else save the rare weapon jackpot gives balanced uncrafting for weapons.
