Also only allows in 1k, 2k, 5k, and i think 10k forms.
The compressor is more useful for transferring pixels between players than for storage.
they raised the percent per death back to 30% wen the added the compressor
i assume there will be different modes/difficulties you can set when creating a character, such as loosing all equipment upon death (or even perma-death). if you play at a setting where you loose everything on death, the compressor is starting to look like a very attractive option (a 40% loss instead of 100% loss).
regardless, after playing a while in just sector A i'm starting to feel pixels will be VERY abundant as you go, so the loss for compressing may not be such a bad thing in the long run, to keep the economy in check so to speak.
Its like they are trying to fix a problem with the pixel/currency system while simultaniously attempting to maintain the status quo.
Your maths is flawed:
You start with 100 pixels and die once - loss is 30% or 30 pixels.
You now have 70 and die again - you lose another 30% or 21 pixels.
After 2 deaths you have lost 51 of your starting 100 meaning 2 deaths in a row would lead to losing 51% of your pixels.
Pixel compressor is very handy if you are holding a ton of pixels and about to try something that could easily lead to a few deaths, its not cheap but those pixels are now untouchable and will remain that way until refined back.
