To buy or not buy?
I am a huge fan of terraria, and i want to play this game too but i have this weird problem where i am so afraid of starting game like this from scratch and to feel like total newb again. Learning curve is so slow here, and that is what keeps me away from it. How long do you need to learn to play this game till the point when you were about the flash of wall in terraria?

Dont buy it, it never get a real update, totally nightmare. They never make a stabe update since last Valentine's Day and they just add a ♥♥♥♥♥ look flower, some white lasy design cloth and tiny ass wing. Then, they keep updating "Beta" stuff, like they really working, pifff.

True, news say they are "going to" update a stabe update, but god know its when. Could be fake news.

We were getting an update soon six months ago. It isn't here yet. Draw your own conclusion.

Gonna have to say no. At least wait until the next stable update (coming hopefully sometime within the next decade) and check again. Even then I'd still say no, but you can probably decide for yourself.

The answer is "NO".
At least until devs stop feeding the community with "soon" crap.
Get the game somewhere else if you are very interested. Respect have to be on both sides, and as for now I don't see it on the devs side.

I'm not sure why I was going to reply seriously to last few posts. lel
As for OP, I'd say no, simply because the game isn't finished. It has potential to become great, it just hasn't gotten there yet. Stick to Terraria for a while.

Don't buy it yet.

Wait till it gets updated (keep checking the forums for when).

If you buy it now, my advice is to postpone playing it till they release the next update. This update will include LOADS of changes that have been made in nightly builds since ..may or so, meaning there is alot of content that isnt currently "released", and only playable in the "nightly builds" which is really unstable. This content seems to be planned for release in the near future. Heard there is a trailer for the new content being released next week.
The game is already awesome and worth the money, but more epicness is right around the corner, and will most likely require a fresh start because of all the changes.

Dont make mistake. There is no flash walls at all. It have nothing.
Criptonix100 Dec 7, 2014 @ 3:21am
If you like to play an unfinished game with no 'stable' updates but 'nightly' aka 'It's broken. Really, it's broken' updates then yes.If you dont, then no

Well i estimate you need round about 2 hrs. to reach the wall of flash, as every boss is currently more or less the same. You need to build a beacon for which you need some metals, meaning you dig down for 2 hrs. Than built that thing and the starter armor + weapons, build a dome around your character out of some of the harder materials, poke a hole in it, activate the the boss item and kill it through said hole.
Every other strategy is most likely inferior to this one and it can be used on every current boss.
Nope, not worth it yet. Check back Soon™...
...where Soon™= 9 or more months and counting for an update.
...when removed features < added features.
...tech demo < beta.
...real features > place holders.
...radical change = original design?
I'd wait until it gets far closer to done... there is not much to "get gud" with. You get a basic tutorial that kind of sums up the vanilla game, or the broken nightlies that you have to run amin/cheat codes to get anywhere & "are broken... really broken."

Agree on every reason told above.

Plus there is a big chance they drop the game and release a version 1.0 RC aka version 0.01, just like so much early access developers.

They had their chance, they shovled a big amount of money. They tried to show us their big amount of work and let us see them in livestreams working their ass off and then dropping everything like a hot potato.

Answer: No.

Wow 13/14 people agree "Don't buy it"

That's pretty scary from a business standpoint...

Oh wait, it's 14/15 people; because, "Don't buy it" is my suggestion as well.

The "Don't Buy it!" Might be slightly misplaced with me, The Maximum $20 that includes the OST is unfortunely the best way to 'support' the Devs. The real issue is there hasn't been any Proper working upates since essentially the Valentines Major. It is clearly unfinished and the "Coming Soon" is at best described as frustrating. When it comes to patches even I have to admit it's quite long and I have 'bought into" some very sketchy early access because it "looked" good only to be disappointed and hated a product when it was released. (full release TMNT: OUT OF THE SHADOWS? Anyone?) And it was supposed to be a finished game. Hell, What's happening with "AC: Unity"?

Most of the base mechanics are finished, the ones where you traverse landscapes in hopes to find resources. The actual tiers to find said resources are, however, more or less broken. In that in mid to higher tiers you can skip an entire sector after gaining enough of certain resources. There is a LOT that was promised and other than pretty pictures nothing playable worth any stability was sent to public. What IS there as far as nightlies that I last checked didn't even run. Granted I never went to try nightlies until recently.

There was a huge... Ahem.... say again............. HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE! Modding community waiting to get their hands on StarBound. Now, not so much.

Buy what you want. Just be warned, once through what is there, which IS kind of awesome, Will make you want more. The fact there isn't any "more". Is where we all stand at the moment.

TL;DR Minecraft still makes patches. Has a large modding community and is still a better lovestory than Twilight.
Starbug Dec 7, 2014 @ 7:15am
No, just wait and see what the update does for the game. Not worth buying right now.
