what is the best storage thing that can hold the most to how big it is/ to how much it holds.

The lunar/outport lockers are quite good. And they look nice. But to be honest even the wooden crates are good now, 16 slot for 4 squares I think.

Yeah even if you put them one on top of each other it's better. Didn't though about that, good point. :)

yes I wasnt trying to be rude when I said it.so I wasnt sure how you would take it but what about the platform or stairs block to stack them above each other.now i want to test it :p

I did some simple maths. Storage space divided by Block Dimentions. i had to add +1 height to containers with a top opening lid (such as found on the small and large chests).

I found that small chest (2x3:16), Large chest(3x3: 24), and Avian Tombs (6x2: 32, stackable) have equal best efficiency (2.667 storage per block dimention).

now that the small square 2x2 containers have all been nerfed down to 9 storage, they are a less efficient option (2.25 storage/block)

Larger containers such as Cool Cupboards (4x5: 32) 1.6 storage/block, and Lunarbase locker (5x5: 48) 1.92 storage/block are even worse, in terms of storage efficiency.

Hope that helps clarify the situation.

Did you calculate the small metal and wooden crates? They each hold 16 items as well but because they stack you do not lose the shelf space you need to stack chests.

On the ship I can stack 5 metal crates on top of each other for a maximum of 80 items. That is 3x10 for a block efficiency of 2.67. But I can only put 3 small chests on top of each other on my ship because of the shelf constraints and ship dimensions. That makes the small chest dimension 2x10 (including the wasted space) for a reduction in efficiency of 2.4.

Sometimes I think I am thinking about this game too much.

I would disagree that the small and large chests are more efficient than the lunar base locker because they aren't stackable. I didn't know about the Avian Tombs, though, I'll definitely check it out. Good tip.

I've got a ton of the lunar base lockers (the ones that hold 64) because I'm a total hoarder.

I use lunar lockers because they look. Storage efficiency doesn't really matter in the end with the big ship we got.

That is certainly true. Just got the last upgrade and seriously thinking about going back and getting that kingly furniture for the penthouse I now have in my ship. I also use different storage units to differentiate different types of items, e.g., bookshelves for books.

The ship is absolutely massive, I really doubt storage locker size matters that much. For most it is about the visuals.

At some point in time you're bound to have a single room dedicated to the loot you hoard. I try to keep my stuff tidy and clean, even though I only have the first upgrade unlocked yet.

A single room? You are definitely less of a hoarder than I am.
Barf Ninja Feb 12, 2015 @ 8:53am
I'm just saying, haven't arrived there yet. :p

haha, seriously. I'm almost done with my whole ship and I have one room filled with lunar lockers. They're all full. In another room I have 4 more lockers - those are are for my clothes and they're also full.

Seeds, I have a whole room full of seeds.
