A flying train in space while hilarious just looks stupid in a serious sense, Avian ship just seems out of place as if it could never actually work, again same thing with the glitch it just doesn't seem like it's possible, and the ones I actually like are only the human hylotl and floran being the only races I play. The human one looks pretty decent and the Hylotl one is just badass. The floran one is the perfect scavenger ship. Floran is the one I play all the time. I play as a vegetarian Floran (of course just like me in real life my floran eats meat when it has the craving for meat then it eats it. I like to RP) who protects the innocent (I always get upset when the poor npcs die, i dont like to be alone in space) My Hylotl is much the same and my human is always a bright eyed young adventurer.
i havent seen apex though, not really a fan of being a hairy ugly monkey lol
rest of the ships look ok to me, they atleast also have a racial theme with which you can decorate it :)
I know some mods cover this, but they seem to focus on building them block-by-block and totally custom. I would personally rather keep the same theme and assets we have right now, and just be able to pick and move around entire rooms.
For example, I don't like how the Novakid train gets taller and looks bottom heavy after upgrade 5, and how the "cars" look like it's trailing multi-floor buildings. I would love the option to just make it longer instead and keep the smaller train design. But thats just me. :P

Whether you think they're ugly or not, I think they did a pretty good job of sticking to the overall theme.
There's a clear difference between sticking to a theme and forcing everyone else to stick to that theme; they chose the latter route, and that's what I have a problem with.
I agree, the apex ship should have a look that at least makes sense with their military style
You're 5 years too late to this conversation.
Also, while the Apex are militaristic, they are also shown to have advanced technology (hence the futuristic ship). Their ship is covered in guns, meaning it is both militaristic and futuristic, fitting the Apex perfectly.
