You have to do the mining facility dungeon and beat the boss.

Protip:Bring 100 bandages,flip the 4 levers around him,then hit the thing at the bottom. Be liberal with the bandages too

You need to make steel armor. Once you accomplish this an NPC will give you a mission to check out a lunar station. You can then access the station through the missions tab in SAIL. You get the crystals after beating the boss.

The station is hard as ♥♥♥♥ and there's a good chance you'll get a game breaking glitch after beating the boss though...

I had to figure this out myself aswell:
1) After Repairing your ship with Core Fragments go to your star chart and click the black gate.
2) Dock and use the platform there to reach the outpost(This outpost is linked to all gates and for every progression quest in the game)
3) Do all the Npc Fetch Quests
4) Use blank tech cards to unlock double jump, dash, and kinetic barrier.
-Kinetic Barrier and dash are near essential for doing the first boss without dying
5) Talk to SAIL and click the missions tab in the "Talk to" section
6) Click the mission and start it
7) You will end up in the dungeon and upon completion without dying you will get the ability to complete it at the mining drill.
8) If you cannot beat this boss you can either get good enough to beat it or use /admin for god mode
9) After beating this boss continue doing all the quests at the outpost

The boss is easy just bring bandeges and food. you dont even need to attack anything till the boss is dead. Just hit the levers and keep healing. the third stage just stay at the top.

To get the quest that will eventually reward you with the crystals, you need to do some other quests in the outpost first. The small quest-line is easily gone through with and really doesn't ask much from you. If you played games like Mega Man or Metroid before, the Erchius-mission's boss won't be that hard for you as well.

Naturally, most complain about it.
Just block the lasers with a two-handed sword and you'll be fine.

Well I tried blocking one of the lasers and it seemed to go through at the end, took 35 damage. >__>

Check the trash can near the top floor that has the toilets

Also, hopefully your game doesn't crash if you beat the boss, got the needed crystals afterwards but there was no way to get out of the boss room, the doors wouldn't open, hit save and quit, game crashed. Luckily when I went back to my file, I was on the ship with the crystals, I hated this mission. =p
