How to get diamonds in the starter sector?

I used my tech card to get Dash, and to get a new one for Bouncy (To fight the 1st boss) I need a Diamond, but cant find one for the life of me. I dug down to the core of the starter planet, not one diamond.

I don't think Diamonds spawn in Gentile star systems. I think they start on Eccentric.

They're there, just really rare :(. In my experience they were more common as close to the core as you could get, but still a lot rarer than before the patch. Look for light-blue looking ore (if you're new to starbound).

This is RNG for you... Generation is weird like that. Although did manage to find some on a different planet, although not really a whole lot. The gentle system does have some, but rare. You find more in the more difficult systems thankfully.

And like the person above mentions I had to go almost to the core to find the few I did find. that was just on the first system. It varies a lot depending on the planet difficulty. However it is a rare find in the lower ones, but still there.

That makes them even harder to find. didn't see a bundle of them till radioactive. That was the first place I saw so many...O_O

usually it is hit and miss though, as I only dig when looking for the materials for equipment upgrades, fuel, or if quest needed.
