Confused. How to make steel bar ?

Hi there, new starbound player here (game is amazing btw).

From the wiki : Steel Bars are a metal bar crafted from coal and Iron. The recipe for crafting these at the Metalwork Station unlocks, after the Starmap Upgrade MK2 item has been crafted and used.

If i get this right, i need Metalwork Station to make steel.
BUT, i can't make it without steel ? What the hell ?

I saw that i need to kill the first boss for this, but again, i can't fight it without steel.

I'm confused, please enlight me :)

You need an "Alloy Furnace" to make steel. The wiki is out of date.

thats the old way to do it (before the recent update) now you need oil (found at desert planets underground) and an alloy furnace wich you can craft IRRC

Yeah that was weird.
Got tons of oil, so i guess it won't be a problem then.

In this new update, Oil + Iron makes steel in the alloy furnace. So upgrade your Matter Manipulator, gather oil, craft the alloy furnace, place it and use it to make steel
