Oil?
So I seem to have hit a point where I need oil to progress. Where do I get oil?

You can get oil from mining desert planets. :D:

Surface of desert, sometimes, you can find entire lakes underground though.

Well all of the desert planets I can reach only have healing water, and since my FTL drive is offline, I can't go look for more, so... Am I just stuck mining through all of the planets until I get lucky enough to find an RNG pocket of it underground?

might be a bug. Friend of mine ran into the same problem where his starting system didn't have any tar biomes. He DID eventually find oil however. He just had to dig fairly deep to find it. Bit of a pain though. I haven't ran into this problem myself though. Ussually there are 2-4 desert planets in the system to choose from and one of them is bound to have a surface tar biome.

I have 5 desert planets in reach. All only posess healing water.

You can find oil deep underground in most desert planets.
