Constantly confused when switching between weapons/flashlight/matter manipulator

It makes no sense to me! There are so many buttons to switch between weapons or flashlight or whatever and it confuses the ♥♥♥♥ out of me especially in combat. Has anybody figured out a logical way to map/use those buttons?

I usually put all of my main weapons in the first 4 slots, with torches in the 5th.

1. You can use the mouse wheel to select items on the hot bar
2. Press R, T, Y to select Matter Manipulator tools (press again to switch back to whatever you were just on)
3. Press 1,2,3,4,etc to select an item on the hot bar, press it again to switch to LR equipment.

I recommend putting your flashlight in the R slot, with a pistol or knife in the L slot and a primary weapon like sword in your 1 slot. This way you can just press 1 to cycle between your main weapon and flashlight w/knife.

Thanks guys! Having my sword on the 1 with my flash on R and gun on L is doing a lot better!
